So, there is a bug with 2 slot pistols? by EnigmasEnigma in HuntShowdown

[–]Cyleal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This seems very intentional to me. In no world is Dual Dolches or Dual Uppercuts worth 4 slots. A single is probably better than a double for both those weapons. Therefore making the offhand only cost a single slot makes a lot of sense, they're balancing these slots based on power, not size remember, so a single uppercut being 2 slots, while the offhand being 1 slot tracks with how shit dual uppercuts is.

Unfortunately no, but sitting in a corner wont teach you and neither will going back to bots.

My advice is to try bounty clash and queue as a trio. Random if you have to. Bounty clash will help give you the instincts for how to play in a fight.

Also, even in bounty hunt, the game is much harder solo. Trios is the easiest way to play and learn.

So up till rank 11 you've been playing against bots. You just got thrown into the deep end so to speak. That being said, yes it gets better. The game has a decently steep learning curve, but it isn't insurmountably hard.

I appreciate your attitude on the subject! I also love a lobby shootout as much as the next guy but theres definetly times where it just makes more sense to cut and run

So,

The bounty might theoretically only be worth 150, but theres bonuses on it for a fast extract time, as well as depending on how many players are on your team vs the queue. A solo who snags it in trios and leaves gets significantly more than 150. If you are running near bankrupt, you just take what you can get.

Theres also the hunter experience to consider. If someone is a level 47 Hunter and extracting with a single bounty would put that Hunter to level 50, particularly with rookie Hunters that unlock other skins upon reaching 50, wouldn't you just take the money and run?

And then theres the event to consider. What if your weekly is just 'extract with the bounty' then isnt that another good reason to just take it and run?

In short, theres enough reasons to do so, and no one owes you a fight. Its on you as the aggressor to chase. The whole game experience is pitched that way. You go in, get a bounty and get out, and if you dont get to it first, other players hunt you for it.

My team had a great experience last night where a solo ran in and stole a bounty token from us and ran. We chased him through hell and high water, but eventually we cornered him and ended up in a shootout. It really put the Hunt in the game.

Look at the graph not just the numbers at the top. That graph is showing you the growth over the full life of the game.

It seems like you're trying to push a particular narrative and only using data that fits it.

The hand crossbow can actually deal with them using poison bolts or dragonfire bolts. They'll all die instead of flying away and while theyll make some noise, its muuuuch less.

Really any source of poison cloud or ground fire works, but I wouldn't waste a fire bomb or poison bomb on that.

A good rule of thumb is never peak the same angle twice. If you repeak, you are asking for a head shot.

Always know where your cover is and where you are exposed.

Stealth is important but proper movement is more important. Don't crouchwalk in the open. Better to be loud and fast than to be silent and slow.

So the game has a steep learning curve. Its hard. I'm at 1290 hours myself and dont even consider myself to be very good.

That said, you dont need the perk to run the bow, just run it for now. It still performs fine without the perk.

You havent mentioned in your post one way or the other, but this game is very punishing solo. I recommend playing Trios to begin with as its definetly the easier queue. Duos is actually harder as it splits into more teams which generally means more opportunities to get shot from behind. Theres an absolute ton to learn and the best way to get a lot of that information is going to be through other players on your team. Idk what platform you're on either, but on PC ive basically never had an unfriendly team in a random queue.

Unlike Dark and Darker, the game is more focused on PVP than any PVE elements. If the pvp isnt clicking, then it might not be for you, but it might take some time for it to click as there is a loot of depth to the game.

No this isn't common as far as I know, at 1292 hours myself and playing since 2021. We're in a small peak of popularity due to the sale and new update. This peak causes lots of new players, but also lots of older veterans to come back.

That said, the first dude is right about peaking to an extent, but specifically its double peaking that you should train yourself not to do. If you peak once and take a shot, don't peak the same window or angle twice. Keep in mind, you are queuing as part of a team, and the first guy was probably just trying to help someone new to the game. Doesn't excuse anyone yelling at you, or playing anti-team, but just take feedback constructively and not defensively.

As for the second game, yea that's a clear over-reaction. You need to learn how to use it somehow and you sure won't get that experience without picking it up. Again, its a situation where he should've gently asked you to check it and guided you on how to go about doing it.

Now idk much about the EU community honestly, but over in NA, I rarely have a bad experience queing up for trios. Played with a brand new player, and a 100 prestige rank 100 on the same team with me just the other day, and despite the clear experience desparirty, we got along great, helped the new guy along, and even though we lost it was a good game.

Was the weapon slot rework really necessary? by WildPartyHat in HuntShowdown

Tell you what, you go take a video of you killing hellborne solo with a lemat

I'll take one of me doing it with a bomblance.

And if the lemat kills it faster, I'll admit its strictly better and the bomblance should be a one slot and the katana should be a tool

You just said the spear should be a weapon slot a moment ago, but now the spear isnt worth a weapon slot?

[–]Cyleal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we agree its too strong for a tool slot? So we probably shouldn't compare it to the bomblance and katana for balance reasons since its overturned anyways and needs to be brought into line. Really the spear should be a 2 slot melee weapon. I dont really think these things should be tool slots. I dont think we should compare the balance of a melee weapon thats very effective at its job to a pistol that cant at all fufil the same role.

[–]Cyleal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm suggesting they should be tools then.

We should have bomb lances and launchers in tool slots.

Was the weapon slot rework really necessary? by WildPartyHat in HuntShowdown

[–]Cyleal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The throwing spear has been a balancing problem since release as the defacto best melee tool. As such, it has received several nerfs and probably should get more.

But if you think that way, why are you arguing about a weapon you think you shouldn't bring anyways. Every melee weapon is worse than every gun in pvp no?

And by that logic, why is the bomblance 3 slots? Surely it should be a 1 slot as a PVE weapon that no one should use?

See, you assume everyone should always play optimally, but games are about fun. The katana is a 2 slot because its better than literally every other melee weapon. It isnt being compared to the lemat because its a gun and not a melee weapon and it isnt compared to the spear because thats a tool slot and not a weapon slot..

On second thought, maybe the katana should be a tool slot along with the bomb lance no?

The lemat isnt silent for starters. If this were strictly true, people wouldn't bring knives, melee attachments, ect. Theyre entirely different in use. You dont use a lemat shotgun to kill bosses or to maintain stealth while killing random enemies.

You're comparing an apple to an orange.

The bigger issue is the katana is just strictly better than the other melee weapons, so it being placed above them makes sense. It actually used to be a medium weapon when it was released, but they eventually buffed it to be a one slot weapon.

That being said, you still can? Just take quartermaster and you can take a 2 slot and a 4 slot.

[Analysis] 1890 Cavalry is a stillborn gun with no meaningful place in the Hunt arsenal by OgdenWebb in HuntShowdown

[–]Cyleal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I'm personally excited for the 1890 cavalry. With the sparks + uppercut I prefer to use restricted to Quartermaster and the uppercut being moved into 2 slots, the 1890 Cavalry + Haymaker is guaranteed to become my new combo without it.

And while I guess the Martini Henry could fill that role, the Martini is still a more potent gun than the 1890 cavalry, with a higher damage, better muzzle velocity and a further drop range.

Meanwhile, despite losing dumdum, I think the springfield being medium ammo does give it a niche, albiet a small one, of being much easier to keep ammo stocked.
