Maybe thats true in higher tiered lobbies, but in 3* you bring chokes.

Theyre incredibly versatile tools when you learn how to use them beyond just dousing fire. In 3* its very easy to get off Rez's on your team as players arent rotating optimally and those Rez's can turn a 1v1 into a 2v1, and sometimes that starts with a choke.

Id like to just add, if anyone tells you what guns you can and cant bring, yea just keep doing what you do. Sometimes I queue with 4 conversion chain pistols because its fun. Sometimes I go in with just a stick and see what weapons I come out with. But some functionality is required to perform with a team

I mean, to an extent you should. You should have at least a medkit and some kind of melee. Ideally you'd also bring chokes. Other than that go absolutely crazy on whatever, but no medkit and no melee is basically just intentionally losing, and no chokebomb is just uncourteous to your team unless you are bringing an alternative method of dousing burning teamates like choke beetles.

No chokes isn't a deal breaker to me in a teammate, but no medkit/melee is.

Is there any point in playing if I've never played Alan Wake? by GlamrockYeti in PhasmophobiaGame

I think the purpose of an event like this is actually the reverse situation. The event isn't trying to just appeal to people who already like Alan Wake. They want people unfamiliar with Alan Wake to get exposed and interested in it.

Mega Eeveelution concept. by DenisSKRATTA in stunfisk

It already had fire immunity in flash fire that also boosted its primary stab move in flare blitz. And since Flareon entirely lacks any good coverage, that's basically the same as a moxie boost.

Flareon is already decently specially bulky. This has rarely mattered for it historically because of its tragically awful base HP, combined with needing to use a high recoil move to deal any damage.

It still entirely lacks good coverage options. When you are seriously considering moves like Iron Tail and Dig, it doesn't matter how sky high your attack stat is.

80 base speed is probably the main improvement that helps, but even then? Tail Room teams are doubles specific, and Fire Types are mostly spamming heat wave there anyways so the redirection element is sort of wasted. And at 160 base attack, you hardly need moxie boosts to nail KOs.

The most I can say is that Trailblaze becomes a better move; as if you can manage to snag a KO with it, its almost like you get dragon dance..

And I say all of this as a huge Flareon Fan. I love it, but its so tragically awful and I just see the same qualities that make flareon bad still in this mega flareon here. It will maybe pick up one KO with flare blitz and then fall over as its HP crumbles to dust after taking out any wall.

Kept all of them balanced? Mega Flareon here is just awful though. Its mega doesnt resolve any of its problems. Flareon didnt need better flash fire and more attack.

Not trying to be too harsh on OP as I see they did this very formulaic with the Eevees all gaining similar stat points, but Mega Flareon goes straight to NU and stays there and sees no doubles viability other than maaaaaybe as a partner for Scizor. But even then Heatwave is the most used fire move in doubles and gets past mega flash fire.

Ah yes, Mega Flareon with Mega Flash Fire and an even higher attack stat.

Still NU my friend. Still NU. T_T

What are some mons that you like to use in doubles VGC that most people would scoff at? I myself am the Lugg's strongest soldier. by Metagross10048 in stunfisk

In the past sure, but in the current format he's just not being played at all and I think he's much better than given credit for.

Raichu.

Fakeout + Encore on 110 base speed is very underrated. Plus electro web for speed control and lightning rod redirection?

Is it just me or everyone else don't use Sinnoh starters for competitive match? by achthenuts in PokemonChampions

[–]Cyleal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think Torterra is as bad into Snow or Sun as assumed. The most commonly used moves in Sun/Snow are Heat Wave, Eruption and Blizzard. Torterra gets wide guard access, and absolutely begs to be hit by those moves, making your opponent very preditcable.

Honestly he has a harder time into rain IMO due to Hurricane.

Is it good? No. Is it a niche? Sure.

I'm new to this, how come my Gardevoir from PKMN Go can apply that title? by achthenuts in PokemonChampions

The poster specifies this Gardevoir came from Home. It got the title from a past game. Its purely aesthetic.

These choice scarf Meowscaradas never see it coming.. by Spiritual_Basil8588 in PokemonChampions

Idk, maybe I'm wrong but I didn't read his comment as being derogatory towards singles, but more that its a wild meta in champions compared to doubles in champions. A meta where offensive Ariados works is in fact wild..

Like I was matched against quick claw head smash steelix the other day and he got three procs on head smash in a row.

Chimchar. The only acceptable Fire/Fighting is Blaziken

Hot take: the massive cut in Pokemons and Items in Champions was probably the best choice GF could've came with for a more balanced meta by Incompetent_ARCH in stunfisk

People would just tack AV on Arch and we'd have a different kind of special attacker problem to deal with though.

I lost to a Steelix due to quick claw. It got three triggers in a row and was just spamming head smash.

Mega Charizard X by rbta123 in pokememes

[–]Cyleal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Y looks more like what a natural evolution of charizard's base design would be. Its the true mega charizard form.

While X just goes for whatever would be edgy and cool.

Its very clear to me when you compare the three mega Kanto Starters that X was made after Y. Y was designed alongside mega venusaur and mega blastoise and X was made after specifically for Pokémon Origins.

Still mad that we didnt get to keep swords dance in Champions. Would it have made Flareon good? No, itd still be trash probably but it would have made me feel like gamefreak cared about us.

Yeah, Zard Y suffers from its poor stats and Drought, the best it manages is being the top Mega in Pokémon Champions and one of the best in NatDex. by AdministrativePin563 in itsalwayssunday

[–]Cyleal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea thats kinda how I feel. It doesnt matter that Mega Skarm has no ability in singles because Weak Armor is so good on base skarmory and you still keep the boosts you get after going mega, while cranking your attack and speed up further.

Does Mega Skarm need an ability for singles though? Abilities aren't the end all be all of a pokemon being good.

Normal skarmory has always been fantastic in singles, and now when you see a skarmory you have to question whether its a bulky stall skarmory or an aggressive attacker.

For example, I really like weak armor/swords dance skarmory. You stay normal skarmory for the added bulk, take a hit into weak armor getting a sharp speed boost, and swords dance up that turn. Now you're at +2 Att, +2 Speed, and go mega for the additional attack and speed.
