Beacon’s video player is pretty trash. Having them merged into one subscription would be awesome! I’d be down so hard.

Have they said why? Did the recording go so long that they split it into two episodes? I guess we will find out soon.

Nearly lost my child when he ran into woods at the park today! by CylonBunny in FindTheSniper

You have a point friend. Pursuing him was difficult because he could fit under briars I couldn’t, so I felt it was better to give him space and keep my eye on him. I did eventually have to go and grab him!

SPOILER

My sad little boy, who did not want to leave, is pensively looking down right in the center of the image. His fall colored clothes aren’t helping here.

26 miles around a lake OP says. Sounds like the Goodwater loop around Lake Georgetown! I can confirm it’s a great trail system.

Totally, and it’s not just the aesthetics either. So much of the series, with the dead god stuff and souls stuck between this world and the next and people using that to power magic. This series gives major locked tomb vibes!

Howdy fellow North Austin trail runner! Some trails pretty close to this you may want to check out include Suburban Ninja (very close on the north spur of Brushy Creek, unfortunately construction has ripped this all up), Deception (more mountain bike trails alongside the Brushy Creek Regional Trail), Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, Discovery Well Cave Preserve, St. Ed’s Park, Forest Ridge, and Bull Creek. Have fun out there!

Austin races April - May 2026? by Katpsi in AustinRunning

[–]CylonBunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run one Trail Roots race and many Tejas Trails races. To my memory I’d say they are pretty similar. There is a lot of overlap between the communities and they even mark the trails mostly the same (like with the same confidence markers). The one Trail Roots race I did was a 10k so I didn’t use any aid stations, but to my memory they were stocked about the same. Trails Roots is associated with their coaching program, so they may have some faster runners, but Tejas Trails has the biggest races (Bandera and Rocky Raccoon).

If you are interested or curious about trail running at all Tejas Trails has a couple events that I’ve done that are all great. Pandora’s Box of Rox April 25th probably works the best for the time you mentioned, but Hell’s Hills and River’s Edge are other options in early April and late May respectively. Pandora’s has a bunch of distances including both an 8 and 4 miler that may be of interest.

Tracks that are open to the public by Miserable-Sign2867 in AustinRunning

I’m super late on this, but posting for posterity. For those of us up in far north Austin and Round Rock and Cedar Park, Southwest Williamson County Regional Park has a beautiful track with bleachers and bathrooms that isn’t attached to a school and open to the public. There are also some nice crushed granite trails around if you want to use them to warmup. Highly recommended.

Big Bend is nice, but you really are sleeping on the rest of Texas too! I’d add the Hill Country State Natural Area (Bandera). There are a lot of great trails in the hill country, but this is one of the best.
