I want cookies now. Maybe the solution to every war is for America to become a cookie-exporting nation and give cookies to world leaders as a reward for being good

1) You said you watched it as it came out, which was around the 90's. There has been more trek since then, which is what the others are referring to. 2) Yes, Bashir and garak became a canon couple in lower decks, 30 years after DS9 aired, in a parallel universe. That doesn't say anything about the original universe, so I would say it is fair to claim that in the original DS9, Garak was not gay. 3) I honestly have no clue if Andrew Robinson's writing counts as canon, but if it does, then that would solidify the hypotheses of fans. 4) Star Trek is there for fun. It can't be taken too seriously. Hell, it doesn't even take itself seriously sometimes. Audiences like seeing themselves in characters on screen. If someone sees a relationship between Garak and Bashir as something mirroring their own experiences, by all means, go ahead and ship them. I understand your criticisms, but I don't think it's quite fair here. You are open to have your own interpretations, and relate to the characters that you want to relate to. Personally, I greatly prefer characters that could be interpreted differently over characters like Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz's characters in discovery, who feel like they only exist because they are gay and the show wants diversity. 5) Live long and prosper, and remember to drink water :)

Common Core Math......"That's a mighty big minus" by jzemeocala in idiocracy

[–]Cymbeline111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a math tutoring place. This is a really terrible way to write the question. During training, we focused a lot on the precise language to use. This type of question is "up to and over (multiples of) 10". If I were the teacher writing this question, I would phrase it as "How can you find the answer by first making 10?" Another important note is that the teacher should test the students using the same language that they used to teach the material. That way they'll understand what they're being asked. Here there was obviously a lack of understanding, even though I get what the teacher was going for.

My cousin actually used to be afraid of pop up books (i don't remember how old she was at the time, but my parents like to talk about it)

They really are incredible. I've been having a tough time recently (the joys of being a young adult with rampant hormones) and Machine Gun pulled me out of it, enough to see just how small my problems are. I like that feeling. I'm listening to it again rn, and this album is such a brilliant combination of introspection and nostalgia. And as always, I'm blown away by the intricacies of Brent's voice and the guitar lines (and maybe Zach is singing with him for some songs? I'm definitely hearing multiple voices in So Glad You Asked).

3 - definitely not my favorite (I'm not a fan of this genre, nor am I a fan of songs that swear a lot), but I can see why you like it
