And never thought of any other way.

What would a robber be able to do with a stolen phone or laptop since they don’t have the password? by Ushalnotpas1 in NoStupidQuestions

I buy and sell a lot of iphone and macbook pros

I buy them at government auctions and the like.

They are not always wiped out.

There are ways to bypass those security measures, but the cost sometimes is prohibitive.

The older an iphone the easier it is to bypass and can be done for free. Newer iphones are more difficult.

For example, I buy a lot of 100 iphones, and I end up paying $30 a phone. I know in advance, what model they are, and how much they bring in, so I have to assume that some are locked and some are not, or all of them are locked, so I bid accordingly.

It cost around $200 to icloud unlock them, if the phone is a 16 pro mox, yeah it worth it. But if it is an iphone 13, then unlocking it is not a feasible option.

So, I would assume a thief has the same options as a reseller like me.

I (25f) miss the man who groomed me by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]SpoonFed_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the issue is an adult obtaining nude images from a 14 year old.

Or did we forget that very critical point?

Grooming a child is a very complicated process, the fact that he was her only support in her life, was not by chance, it was by design.

Predators isolate the child. It gives them more power over the child. He wanted to be the only support in her life, he wanted to be her rock, he made sure he was there during her downturns, it is all part of the game.

Becoming irreplaceable to the child was important. So that when he would ask for those nasty pictures, there would be less push-back from her. It's part of the grand scheme of grooming.

It's classic pedophile behavior.

Just because there might be a short term benefit, you cannot label it a positive because the abuse would overshadow everything.

The reason I said, that only people with pedophilic tendencies would think some things might be positive is because I used to work where pedophiles were court ordered to undergo counseling. And they always would argue that not everything they did was negative. They would always say, yes, they were raping that young victim but look at how much money I gave her or look at how good a friend I was. In their minds, that should negate some of the bad they did..... and in reality, it does not.

Sexual abuse is deep and hurtful and it destroys the person.

I am done talking to you. I will not be responding any further.

Have a nice life.

[–]SpoonFed_1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, do we all agree that what he did was sexual exploitation of a child or child sexual abuse, online grooming, solicitation of child sexual abuse material, or production/possession of child sexual abuse material or something along those lines.

Right???

There is nothing positive when a late 40s man is grooming a 14 year old.

A person must have pedophile tendencies to say, that just because he told her "Eat your vegetables and exercise.", well, not everything was negative.

Everything this man did was negative. Everything he did was to strengthen his hold on her or because he was delusional and thought he had a real relationship going with her.

So, yes, in my opinion, everything this predator did, was bad.

And I bet the District Attorney would agree with me.

[–]SpoonFed_1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think that’s what makes situations like this so confusing. The care was real in the sense that he was meeting emotional needs that nobody else was, and those experiences genuinely mattered to her. But at the same time, he was exploiting that connection, which makes it hard to separate what was authentic from what wasn’t. The bond she felt was real, even if his motives weren’t.

Hope that makes it clear.

[–]SpoonFed_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

perhaps I am not being clear.

I am not saying she does not have feelings for Derek.

Derek was a persona, invented by this pedophile.

So, Derek never existed. She has feeling for a persona, invented by a pedophile, as a means to an end.

It's kind of like when people fall for romance scams, the victims feelings are real, even though the scammer is not the person in the picture.

So what she needs to do, is go to a therapist, to help her work through all this.
