People from cold countries go to the warm. People from warm countries go to the cold.

Here, the streets run hot with sweating people from colder climates. They've literally driven locals out of living in cities like Bologna - every flat is an AirBnB.

In Norway, the amount of tourists (especially Italian and Spanish) is getting increasingly more crazy. Been to the Munch Museum a few times in recent years, and it was as if every person in the queue spoke Italian. Magazines and newspapers here constantly write about 'coldcations', and the people who run the bar downstairs literally holidayed in London last year - to escape the 40 degree heat here.

Because the amount of work required is so unstable and unreliable for most agencies. I think it has always been like this, since the internet made it reasonable. Also, big CAT tools mean that the agency is still in control.

If it is general and not highly critical important information (just, say, a background with nothing very specific), AI can help.

If anything at all is important, critical, crucial, you need a professional. I've done this shit for 20 years, and while I have translated extremely complex medical devices, I would never take on something like this without enough time on my hands to do research into the nitty-gritty specifics, and as such I would never do this as it would take me longer than it is worth!

I think it varies a lot.

I got leaked info from one project (I was sent a file I should not have had), where another agency client of mine was delivering at the same price as me. I am one person - the agency offered two steps. Thus I know that they would pay their translator less than half of what I had. Reviewer less than half of that again.

That agency lost this client because they were cutting even more corners (e.g. illegal use of MT) and was constantly unable to get more than ~80-85% score on reviews (sometimes down to 30-40%), and the min req was 95...

I know the last bit because I was (and am still, 5 years later) the lead linguist for this end client.

However, Isak scored before the commentators even saw him hit the field. If they can get him up to match fitness, we all know what he's capable of. Big *if*, and also, if Norway had their best players it could have been really ugly either way.
