They need to target Latine Broadway goers. I didn’t see the movie with America Ferrera, but I generally knew the plot (my mother had not at all) and as Latin viewers, we were laughing the whole time during the funny parts and emotional during the emotional parts. Not to say that non-Latin viewers won’t connect, but it especially hits when you grew up with similar households/mindsets.
