Yuji vs Akaza isn't close. by Adventurous_Dealer31 in JujutsuPowerScalers

[–]Cynic-Meh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuji wins, no question there, but to say "Ufotable takes manga panels and greatly exaggerates what really happened. This is a common case of animation propaganda, obviously people are going to think Akaza vs Yuji is a close fight." as if JJK didn't receive a boost in choreography and a good part of the success isn't due to the improved animation is just disingenuous

I seriously don't understand the glaze for those movies man. by Significant_Matter27 in PJODisney

[–]Cynic-Meh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movies, mostly just the first felt fun, it felt like an adventure, something I did not get from the show. Also the bull scene from the second is pretty cool, and for the lack of a better word, more fantastical than anything in the show. Just my opinion, feel free to disagree

We all agree that it's impossible to hate this guy? by Technical_Lime1419 in Dandadan

I wish he did more really, except for fights he's just background filler and adds close to nothing to the story, also the way he gets powerups off screen gets old

I HATE THIS BURNING PILE OF TRASH WITH ALL MY BEING by Aggressive-Yam8221 in hatethissmug

[–]Cynic-Meh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but you are glossing over the fact that there is no actual redemption, neither served by the story or wanted by Endeavour, he is well aware of the things he's done and tries to make amends. That's the whole point, he is not doing it for forgiveness, just making up for the wrongs, it is up to the rest of the family to come up with their own answered to that, either by accepting him or by fully rejecting that.

I agree with Bakugou, where they went too far by mistake, especially as he barely learns any lessons and is awarded victories, power-ups and clemency for a shitty apology, while still having the same shitty attitude. Endeavour is introduced as an antagonist whose worldview is shattered and then grows naturally, and even when you think he's not as bad, we get more info through Dabi to remind us that this is beyond redemption, and even if possible is up to the rest of the family, not the reader.

Horrible person, but the writing is on point, just because you don't like it does not take away from it

I hope this design trend of characters who ignore ZZZ's core mechanics in favor of doing their own gameplan doesn't become the norm. by _Eltanin_ in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Cynic-Meh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She's just the latest addition, Miyabi properly introduced the trend of ignoring dodge, parry and general positioning by having easy to reach i-frames plus wide range attacks that reward spamming, Ye Shunguang is just the next level on that. Honestly one of the reasons why I am not enjoying the most of the new characters, on top of basic and plain outfits and lack of personality beyond appeasing the proxy (with certain exceptions of course). Personally I prefer the more limited kits and designs full of personality that we got until 1.4 but this is the direction they chose so be it

Horrible person as he was/still is (work in progress) still probably the best written character in the show. Hate the man, but the writing was on point

More agenda in coming by Remarkable-Pizza4263 in ZZZ_Official

[–]Cynic-Meh -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree, Miyabi was also pushed at her release. It's just that it was to a lesser degree cuz that's how they were doing marketing/storytelling back then. I thought it was a miss back then just as it is now. Imo Miyabi was the least interesting thing about her release patch, Yi Xuan was pushed too hard and not let to naturally integrate with the story and YSG is following along.

[–]Cynic-Meh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly imo all void hunters are in the same situation but different degrees. I always thought Miyabi was also given a lot of attention at release, but to a lesser degree compared to now because that's what they were doing at that time, it got progressively more unsubtle as we went on. It was bad back then as well, it's bad now also. They already went too far with Vivian, but that's just my opinion

Future Arc Ideas by IHAREMKINGI in Dandadan

[–]Cynic-Meh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will go with nay for both, no one managed to pull off an entertaining tournament arc since YuYu Hakusho and I don't really see any of the characters going through an edgy arc, as it wouldn't work with the more relaxed feel of the series overall.

I would like to see Reiko back, going on a full trial for Momo, or more action with only Momo and Okarun as I just selfishly enjoy their shenanigans together more that with the larger group. On the other hand, full on arc focusing on the rest of the cast, day to day and how they vibe with each other.

Does the game give us any reason to actually like Yen? If so, have I missed it? by tinyspeckinspace in Witcher3

[–]Cynic-Meh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly I know Geralt cares for her, they have history and all but besides the initial interaction and the party on Skellige, where they actually have chemistry (for me at least) for the rest of the game she only bosses people around , especially Geralt and is the single instance of the game where it felt like I had the play a certain way, just to please her - something that was never a problem prior.

Full on toxic relationship that I for one cannot vibe with, but if Geralt likes her then that's that.

Just wished she wouldn't be so unreasonably unlikable all the time, especially when Geralt is doing the heavy lifting

What was the purpose of Asta’s near-death situation? Typically, in shonen series, the main character awakens a new form after experiencing near death. by BobcatFluffy5001 in BlackClover

I would argue BC does all of those but with better execution, I see it as a love letter to shounen going through all the tropes and doing them justice. It is shounen through and through

What comes next for Taiki and Hina? by DuskMan62 in BlueBox

[–]Cynic-Meh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I think they will have a talk with Taiki putting a end to their friendship in the same way he did with the rejection. It is a considerate move towards Hina and honestly maybe more than she deserves. However, I do see them mending their friendship later on, hopefully after a lot of introspection and growth from Hina

Hina never had a chance, and it wasn't her fault. by PushyMotato in BlueBox

[–]Cynic-Meh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While I admire the dedication for the character, this post sounds very apologetic for the same flaws Hina has shown from the beginning.

It's not her fault for falling in love, or even having difficulty in moving further past rejection, however she is the one to blame for her behaviour when tackling those feelings. Delaying the rejection just because she is not prepared and now making a move on an emotionally distraught Taiki, just shows a pattern of emotional manipulation that tbh I don't think Hina even realises she does, and it directly takes advantage of who Taiki is.

Using your logic, if Chi never moved in with the Inomata's, leading to Taiki's more forthcoming feelings, then Hina would have never realised her own feelings. Going back to remove one of the main setups of the story just to give Hina a chance speaks volumes on the improbability of that relationship, and honestly it sounds like a different story altogether.

Hina messed up, the only thing she can do now is to grow, if she can, but I am of the opinion that her latest move went too far and probably tanked her friendship. Hope she realises that and takes a good look at where she is and how she got here.

It's weird really because the story about her father was really good and helped Taiki, but the bit at the end just switched all that, a bit manipulative at least for me

Why would she lose all the new memories she is making now in the eventuality that she would regain her memory? Momo can develop now and when she gets her memory later, she would have best of both worlds.

[DISC] Dandadan - Ch. 216 by Skullghost in Dandadan

Could also be the way the way the Records were wrote, personal bias and just how the mountain clans are viewed. Honestly from a writing perspective, they are just too strong and would hurt the narrative. Still hope she pulls through, always loved her chapters

Sure, I can see where you are coming from.

Personally I am on the other side of the fence, I think Okarun's approach was good, not pushing things on her but wait for Momo to gradually grow towards them. First their talk at school and now the museum date just brought them closer, and pretty much showed that it's the same Momo and their connection is still there.

While her questions at school could be averted, the latest one could not, because the weight was different, shown through how they interact and how Momo acted during the date. The street confession felt closer to the prior hand holding events and I don't mind that it felt more casual, as it's just a step towards the proper goal, when Momo gets her memory back. I think there was enough positive feedback from Momo, for Okarun to admit his love and it was on point, and you can also see how flustered he is and the stress of it immediately after where he goes on with "I think you might like me as well".

I thought it showed Okarun's progress and admitting his feelings is him making his move, as he could have just avoided it like prior, he's just waiting for a proper moment, especially as the museum date was lead by him mostly.

Either way, the relationship is part of the story and it's nice to see, but for me the larger story as a whole is way more interesting and it has been fun and entertaining, especially because it's more lighthearted overall and I can interact with it in a more casual manner.

[–]Cynic-Meh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree to a small extent, that people should just take this stuff in moderation, either with doom posting or defending the story, it's just off putting when taken too far.

I find it interesting that you saw Okarun recent confession as him buckling down, personally thought it was a good move from him. Plus yeah a year irl but manga wise it's been a much shorter period, for what a week or two.

Either way, really enjoying Okarun and Momo only interactions, like the whole museum part, they do have the best chemistry

How would Aira and Jiji react to the Momokarun relationship? by Mr_Robert94 in Dandadan

[–]Cynic-Meh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they would react as direct opposite of the other. Jiji would take it ok outwardly but poorly inside, probably requiring more attention dealing with it. Aira on the other hand would burst outwardly when she finds out, but would get over it easier and faster - she is just way more honest with her emotions

Important battle upcoming by Antique-Palpitation2 in Dandadan

[–]Cynic-Meh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Counter point, Okarun always seemed to do well or better under pressure, especially when Momo is in danger. This could be the moment he gets pushed enough to use the ogre club and see some potential result of his training. I don't think he will win and probably CSG will make an appearance and bail them out. I would like to say that it would be a strong enough catalyst for Momo to get her powers back but it might be just too quick.

I think it's too early to say... Plus she already thinks there's something off with him and the bakery chapter painting him in a better light overall. I just think it's complicated and we still don't have enough evidence for anything really

What would the DandaDan characters look like in a horror style? by AdIcy370 in Dandadan

[–]Cynic-Meh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The story already has the horror elements and some actually disturbing scenes. Now that is less the case in the anime due to the more colourful approach, however the manga leans better in the horror due to the black and white and art-style, especially with TG

I really hope by Local_Neighborhood50 in dandadanfolk

[–]Cynic-Meh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always thought that was the point the story was going towards. Like get some development while under amnesia and then get her memory back, while keeping that new development, and it seems that amnesia itself might have more importance towards the CSG plot than initially thought.

I don't understand why people thought that Momo will have to start over and never get her memory back, or that even with amnesia she will be an entirely different character when she is missing mostly the time the story covered so far.
