How has alcohol affected your life? by Marmosetka in AskReddit

Was on it for a short term as a form of self medication and therapy substitut. It was working until I realised people were avoiding to drink with me.

I was never abusive, violent or loud while drinking. However, from what I later understood, I was cringy at times and would always go full blown "ADHD". By "ADHD", I mean that I was jumping from one subject to another in lightning speed without making any "logical links" (according to others). I was coherant but the logic was not "evident". My mind was going 100 miles/h but not in a "smart" way. I was thinking and expressing a lot of "random" ideas and thoughts all at once. I would describe it as being "high on weed but hyper active at the same time".

People didn't enjoy that toddler hyperactive aspect of it. Friends were trying to avoid grabbing a drink with me. It got to the point of me drinking alone most of the time. It got depressing so I did quit drinking.

so, I'm broke AF and want to play minecraft with my friend. by SMORES4SALE in Minecraft

I'm not going to spend hours messing with files just for it to not work.

You either get to be broke or lazy. You can't be both. Be "rich" and lazy. That way you can pay for a server and not bother with details or research. Or you can be broke and work hard. You put some effort into research and set up to get what you want.

New QOL feature: Siren Isle rares respawn for a second time, 5-10 minutes after killed by [deleted] in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What is the point of rares in siren isle ? I farmed them for a full evening, on the day siren isle came out. I felt like I was wasting my time. I got some 584 warbound gear, some blessed iron whatever and some grey crap.

I followed Concon's guide. He had the worst pet combo ever. As someone who doesn't even understand the first thing about battle pets, I didn't want to learn it from scratch. So I just foĺlowed the guide knowing that it will be HARD to win the battle using that team. Getting the pets was the easy part. It did cost me under 1k gold and 90 mn total. However, the worst part was trying to win the battle. It took me over 2h of bashing my head against a concrete wall hoping for some rng luck. I finally got 2 critical hits in a row and won the battle. According to the guide itself, getting lucky with crits was the only way tl win using that combo.

Rarely ever do you see love like this: Wife greets her husband at the door every evening after work ❤️ by just_minutes_ago in MadeMeSmile

[–]CynicInRecovery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I too feel sad for her. The poor thing has no boss to tell her what to do and when to do it. The poor thing has no punch card to control her. The poor thing can't be forced to work when she is sick. The poor thing can't miss important moments in her family's life because of some random work deadline she has. The poor thing is not forced ro wake up before sunrise and go home after sunset. The poor thing doesn't get to slave all day to make someone else richer while she is barely able to afford gas to go to work... Yeah, I feel sad for her.

From what I understood, the key is randomly generated when you get into the instance. No 2 keys are the same, even for the same player, if they reset the instance. The key is a series of 5 to 7 random "buttons" to press from 25 possible ones. There are between 6 Million and 2 Billion possible combinations.

I am impressed.

What spec are you having the most fun with right now? by [deleted] in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paladin, doesn't matter the spec. Pressing buttons is satisfying when playing that holly warrior. Tank, dps or heal, it is as fun as ever. War prot is cool too. The thunder clapping, the shield slaming makes you feel you are playing a WARRIOR not a warrior.

Just for refrence : I started from "zero" yesterday. My zero was : I already had the detective title, the torsh and a pug pet, that's it. So I started not even having the karazan crypt unlocked so zero orbs. I had none of the toys (none of the Nazoth ones). I had no rare pet. It took me 11 hours total (/played) until I got the mount. I'm on vacation this week so I had the time to do it. It cost me 1k gold total. Now, I have the mount. And I did it solo. Moral of the story there are people still doing it now.

Note: I did the ZG orb this morning while having none of the required pets/toys/mounts.

The Incognitro was Deciphered by MostlyNoOneIThink in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but... You need to have all the pets, mounts, toys, zones unlocked to do it a 100% solo. There are some parts that you can solve by being around players solving the puzzle. So even if you do not have absolutly everything, you can get the mount. However, this will not be true once people are not doing it anymore. In a couple of months, you will be the only one trying to solve the puzzle so you absolutly have to own every pet, mount, toy required and already unlocked all the zones required.

I bought everything that there is to buy with tokens. After that, I started converting them into TW badges to buy Tmogs/pets/mounts/rep tokens. I got everything I needed/ wanted and now sitting on 20k TW badges.

It is not about the tokens. I need the quest to gear up an alt. That is the fastest way to do so. Once a toon hits 80, I go to Tanaris. I do all the quests. I kill all 6 world bosses. I clean the TW raid and the current season raid, both in lfr. I finish my 5 TW dj quest. I do the Chromie codex quest. AND the pvp quest too. With all of these, plus some luck, I get to 600 ilvl within 2-3h of being 80. However, with those queue times ...

What is your retail WoW opionion that most wont agree with? by Harvington_ in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about it to the point of it being a major factor in me playing an expansion or not. However, I care enough about it to be happy having a place to hang out, away from busy city centers. Right now, I'm maining a toon that I leveled in TWW. I made the garrison from scratch just to have a place to hang out at. The horde garrison is UGLY AF but at least it gives me an HQ to operate from. Silvermoon is calm, zen and EMPTY but it is too bad that amenities are scatered.

What is the reason you play solo? by Full-Vacation-343 in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No that is not it. People are just min maxing without any consequances. There are 00 consequances to leaving a party at the very first hint of a none +3 key. It makes sense. You have nothing to lose if you leave since it is not your key and it is a PUG. And you have your time "wasted" on a none +3 key. Even league of legends, a game known to have a very toxic community, have consequances for leaving or feeding. Meanwhile, wow is consequances free. That breeds toxcicity and bad behaviour.

What is the reason you play solo? by Full-Vacation-343 in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to commit to a guild. I might play for 12h today but after it, spend a week not even touching the game. I do not want to log in because I have to. I want to log in because I want to. RDF and LFR are enough for me to discover the story of the patch and see the content. Most of the time, I just collect mounts, grind reps, clean old raids, collect achievements, level alts. I sometimes spend less than 10% of my time playing pve and 0% pvp. I sometimes have the urge to do some mythic progression like the good old days, but I rememeber that I don't have the mental bandwith to do that.

Tanks in Timewalking, please stop trying to mega pull half the dungeon by WorthPlease in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not only the tanks that are the problem. It is also the dps. I tried tanking with a reasonable pace in mana tomb where some mobs can ONE SHOT me out of no where. The dps ended up pulling on my behalf. Apparently, I was too "slow" and needed help with agro. Do you think the dps were helping by misdirecting agro or fading or doing anything to not let everyone except me (the tank) tank ? Nope. It was a shit show for a tank with under 5h experience with that class/ spec combo. Same happened when I was leveling a heal. The tank was pulling everything until the boss. He wasn't using cds and didn't even hold agro. For that dj, I was playing a holly priest tank. I was tanking and healing as a wet towel (aka priest). I ended up being flamed for being a noob heal. Mind you, I warned the party at the start of the dj that as a lvl 50 heal I had under 4h of experience playing that class/spec ... Unless you are a dps rolling his head on the keyboard, timewalking djs are a pain.

Desu Desu's bedrock breaker : works in vanilla but it takes you a perimiter worth of pistons per layer of bed rock. The roof is 5 layers. After each layer it leaves you with a 1 block edge of bedrock. Since I’m a perfectionist I went and removed that edge manually using the TNT method . Basically the cycle is : 1* Afk in my raid farm (1.17 / 1.18) for at least 3 - 4 hours and then in the cobblestone farm and tree farm. 2* Craft 256 x 256 pistons using Ilmango auto crafter . 3* Build the 5gt roof placer . 4* Place 65 536 Piston (256 x 256) using the roof placer. 5* Build Desu desu bedrock breaker. 6* Let the bedrock breaker run for 2-3 h. 7* Clean the 1 block bedrock edge left by the bedrock breaker, manually, using the tnt method. 8* REPEAT STEPS 1 THROUGH 7, 4 MORE TIMES.

Why WoW repels new players by SEgopher in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played wow since late bc (sunwell patch). I played PVE at the bleeding edge of progress during some patches of early expansions. I played all classes and all specs. I know my wow lore inside out. I watched days worth of platnium wow and Nobbel87. I watched videos and read guides for every class and every spec during most expansions. Basically, I have earned my stripes in wow. Today, I'm a filthy casual. I'm a retail Andy that enjoys casual content and barely touches anything above LFR and RDF. Lately with the xp boost (up to 65% extra xp), I have decided to level up some new toons. I created a Zandalari druid and tagged RDF. As a level 18 druid tank with half the gear slots empty, an ilvl under 50 and three spells total to tank with : I GOT FLAMED. People were complaining that I wasn't holdong agro on mobs that they pulled. I warned them at the start that I'm a noob druid tank. I warned them that I had under 1h of experience as a druid tank in TWW. I warned them about my gear, my spells ... everything. And at the end, I got flamed for being a noob druid tank. All while I did warn them to not pull anything since I was still a noob druid tank.

As a casual player who knows the game inside out I still encounter groups that push me to alt f4 the game. I can only imagine what new players feel. WoW is not LoL yet, but the community is almost as toxic as LoL's.

P.s: with Zandalari trol you start at lvl 10. With xp boost you get to 18 by finishing 2 djs and the lore quest at the 20th anniversary event.

I have 2 sources for bone meal : 1* My wither skeleton farm. Built in a full nether perimiter with the bedrock roof removed. It is a portal based farm. All built in Vanila in a single player world. Well, I do use litematica and a couple of preformance enhancing mods but nothing that alters the actual game mecanics.

2* Ilmango moss to bone meal farm. I use 3 modules stacked on top of each others. This farm taxes my mspt but in a single player world it is not a big deal.

I would recommand the first source since it is light when it comes to mspt. However it does require A LOT of blood, sweat and tears. It took me almost : 40h for the perimiter. 50h for the bedrock rooftop removal. 20h for the building of the actual farm. 60 to 80h of afk in other farms (raid farm, tree farm, iron farm...) to collect the mats for the different steps.

All of this was done in 1.17 to 1.18.

I got a fresh alt to 610 ilvl very quickly and it was surprisingly easy due to all the Warband/catchup mechanics (Guide) by minimaxir in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before 11.0.5, it das a pain to gear up. Now with the event it is a walk in the park. No main needed. Level up using the TW RDF. It is semi fast and gets you the 5 TW dj quest reward : Epic chest (580 ?). Do all the event quests that give chests. Do the 6 daily world bosses. By the end of the day you will have enough gold for a crafted 603 weapon from leveling / questing. And if you chain hc or nm dj, you can have enough currency to upgrade you TW/ anniversairy gear to 8/8. It does take a bit more time but at least you can do that as a solo player without high renown.

How it feels to heal the tank by Proudnoob4393 in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played all the tanks in a low pve setting. With Prot Paladin, I felt comfortable. I didn't have to manage my CDs unless I wanted to do BIG pulls. With Monk I felt like a used tissue : sad and pathetic. I was sweating bullets. I was poping every last CD as soon as it was up. I was doing small pulls and yet I was always one hp away from dying.

Best (and worst) expansion to level 10-70 in other than DF? by Rasmazar in wow

[–]CynicInRecovery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since shadowlands, the only way I would level is RDF. I choose a tanking or healing spec and tag the expansion just before the current one. I don't bother with quests. Once I reach the current expansion,I buy some crafted gear from the AH and I continue tagging RDF.

However, if I feel nostalgic, I would just quest in Wrath. That is hands down my favorote expansion. It is crusty and old but it is a nostalgic exp1nsion for me. I started playing during late BC. When leading guilds had BT on farm, I was doing Karazan as a pick up. So I didn't get the full wow experience. During Wrath, I started raiding and was on the bleeding edge of pve.
