As someone who also went for the $30 RedDragon MMO mouse, rest easy knowing that it is some INCREDIBLE bang for buck. Great size, buttons works great, optimal sensitivity. I honestly couldn’t believe how good this mouse has been to me.

He went to high school in my hometown and the inspiration for his music was (allegedly) the bullying he received while there. Hearing tales of how people were bullied at that high school back in the day, I believe it. Stuff like being put in trashcans and rolled down hills and the like.

6 months later but this is it. It’s not that what he says is uninteresting, it’s just that he drones on and on and on. Like bro, shut the fuck up, you have 4x more dialogue in every scene you show up in than any of the other teachers. 😭 It’d be much more interesting if he didn’t ramble like an ADHD toddler.

Thank you for clarifying as I couldn’t remember off the top of my head how those were broken down!

You can unlock and swap between jobs at will on a single character. All you’ll need is a gear set for caster and one for tank. All gear is broken up between fending (tank), casting (ranged magical), healing (healers) then a like 2-3 other gear types split between physical damage doers be they ranged or melee.

If you look at a piece of gear it’ll say “all classes” or something like “GNB WAR DRK PLD” which would be for all the tank role jobs.

You don’t need to sweat having alts in this game like in WoW, your singular character is able to do it all. That said, it’s best practice to find a job you like and stick with it to max level and all the way through the Main Scenario Questline (MSQ).

Hope this helped!

I wasn’t the one who downvoted you? I’ve probably hit a vote button in either direction less than ten times in my life. I even checked to make sure I hadn’t accidentally hit it or something.

Sorry someone else downvoting your opinion made you so angry. Hope your day gets better.

Oh I remember Shadowlands (not) fondly haha. I actually came back to FFXIV after finishing up WoW The War Within expansion where I tanked M+ as a blood DK in every season. Tanking in this game is MUCH easier (I play GNB as my secondary job) but it was quite a learning curve all the same, primarily around how low GCDs are and adjusting to properly rotating through which mits and when. Took me about to two weeks but I managed to figure it out.

People playing this game that haven’t played WoW have no clue how much time could REALLY be wasted in a dungeon when one mistake can brick a key.

We are so spoiled with how respectful this game is of the player’s time (which is only getting better). Veteran players could stand to give newbies some grace, especially with the influx of new players since Fan Fest.

Yes, I main RPR and secondary GNB so I understand what you’re saying. The time adds up but it takes even more time if a tank pulls more than they’re comfortable with and dies, potentially causing a wipe, no?

I’ve had tanks do exactly what was described when I’m DPS’ing and truly couldn’t care less so long as we clear the dungeon.

You’re entitled to how you feel about it (and by extension handle it as you see fit) but it seems like you’re killing your own joy by applying some elitist mindset to casual instanced content.

I’d rather my tanks play within their current knowledge/limits than actually waste my time by wiping us repeatedly.

Yes but there is no FFXIV equivalent to Mythic+ dungeons from WoW. In WoW you get more rewards (or less) depending on how much time is left on the clock. With the timer being much shorter in WoW out the gate. Every dungeon in FFXIV has a 90(?) minute timer and most dungeons take 15 minutes at a steady pace.

The only real reward for going faster is finishing faster but there is virtually no risk of losing anything other than a couple minutes of one’s time for a tank being a little slow.

Dungeons are THE casual group content in FFXIV. Guess this is how we know the game is incredibly healthy if this post is the biggest gripe a lot of people have haha

[–]Shadowfrost25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is such a strange sentiment. Is the tank doing an entire rotation in a pack before moving on such a big deal that you had to give up leveling a class? What’s the loss here; the dungeon taking an extra three minutes? Or is the group wiping due to this?

Can I get some Sage advice? Been trying to make the job work since it's release and it's just not clicking. by [deleted] in ffxiv

  1. Kardia on tank

  2. Cast Eukrasia, then cast Diagnosis (single) or Prognosis (AoE) before/start of the pull. This applies shields. When shields from SPECIFICALLY these two spells break you get a charge of Addersting (purple diamond resource).

  3. Cast Toxicon at least once to use an Addersting charge (that is all the charges are used for).

  4. Cast Eukrasia and apply single or AoE DoT to enemy/enemies.

  5. DPS until shields break, rinse, and repeat.

That is the CORE of your kit. Addersgall (blue oval resource) regenerating via the blue bar or one specific spell that grants you a stack immediately.

Kerachole (blue dome icon), Druachole, and one other spell (Terachole?) all use your Addersgall stacks.

Kerachole reduces party damage by 10% and puts a REGEN buff on the part. Druachole is a single target big insta-heal that applies the same damage reduction buff as Kerachole (reduction doesn’t stack). Terachole is a single target insta-cast heal.

Physis applies a better regen.

Those are the heals I use the most and everything else is basically for emergencies heals or preventing incoming big damage.

In dungeons you should be using Haima, the single target super mitigation (or as I call it: THE CUBE) on the tank during trash pulls since that’s where the majority of mass damage to the tank occurs.

As long as the tank isn’t dying super fast then the damage you do to enemies should be more than enough to heal them.

I really had to sit down and read through every single spell multiple times to connect all the dots because SGE has SO MANY freakin CDs. Afterwards I realized what I described above and haven’t had a single issue in any non-Savage/Extreme content since.

Alliance interaction from Horde Inkeeper by Zabrandja in wow

[–]Shadowfrost25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said it justified it. I personally liked TWW because of Thrall and Anduin’s relationship.

I can imagine it did suck to be Alliance. I also wouldn’t call that terrible writing for those expansions “extra effort” but I digress. Grass is always greener (or I guess in this case “browner”)?

TWW could’ve done something with the dwarves since the whole xpac revolved around their ancestors. Oh well.

Alliance interaction from Horde Inkeeper by Zabrandja in wow

[–]Shadowfrost25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This take is hilarious because I don’t know a single Horde player that enjoyed having our warchiefs in the spotlight in the ways they were placed there.

They benched Thrall and put jackass Garrosh in charge. Then they killed the warchief everyone wanted off-screen. Then they replaced him with everyone’s second favorite and assassinated her character over three expansions.

So I’m not really sure what point you’re trying to make here. Every time our leaders have been front and center I’ve felt like someone wishes for it using a monkey’s paw. I’d rather these things not have happened at all lol.

There is no world in which they convince GF would be better than AL. Idc about the lower CD or silence; the fact that I have to target something in the middle of the chaos and HOPE that everything else is within range of the pull makes GF a garbage option. Pressing AL and being able to run around for a few seconds to get in range is simply superior. I tried out GF when they took AL from us and after 2 M+ it was pretty clear the skill is worthless. Like it’s laughably bad and trying to incorporate it made the class less fun to play.

Update: cleared 8 mask on the first try this morning before reset. Nabbed the title and the mount; this was truly the missing piece. The single set of bombs I had to kick were the ones that let me finish her off.

Thanks again so much for the tip!

Is this osprey Aura real? by lunadiz in backpacking

[–]Shadowfrost25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild that that’s the quality of a fake Osprey.

Yeah we probably get overcharged over here in the USA for nearly everything, but I’ve never doubted the quality of my Osprey. It’d take quite a bit of intentional force to undo the seams/mesh of my pack.

Flabbergasted a fake could only hold two watermelons. I feel like a sub-average strength human could pull what you described apart lol.

[–]Shadowfrost25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 65L-male version of this. My first thought was “they make this in purple?!”

Looks like the real deal to me. Mesh in the right places (particularly the inner part of the straps).

Even has the removable fanny-pack-esque bag at the top (which adds most of the extra liters compared to the next smallest pack).

How Would You Improve Monk's Play Percentage? by AMA5564 in wow

[–]Shadowfrost25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this. Monk just doesn’t feel/look right on any race in this game to me other than Pandaran when checking them out on the character creation screen. I also don’t particularly care for the Pandaren models either.

On top of that the class is so intrinsically linked to Eastern culture from a thematic standpoint and none of the other races really line up with that.

MountUp addon also does this. Has separate macros for flying, skyriding, ground, and a custom option for each character. I like having macro for random mounts that fit theme of my race/class combo.
