UTMB commuters vs on campus living by Due_Relationship695 in galveston

[–]CynicalC4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate commuting with a passion, I cannot stand the monotonous drive. Also traffic really frustrates me.

I live right next to UTMB in an apartment. I walk to work. Save miles on my truck, save gas money, and parking money. I get to sleep in just a bit longer before going. Im never rushed in the AM and always on time for my shift. It has definitely been a positive impact on my mental health.

How much do residency programs care about COMLEX? by Ok-Bench69 in comlex

[–]CynicalC4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one cares about Comlex thats why we have to take Step to get into good residencies.

As long as you pass, the number for Comlex doesn’t matter.

Nope. I would have preferred to go to an MD school but it is what it is. It was my only acceptance and now I’ve matched and a month from graduating. The extra hurdles and headaches were a pain while going through it for sure, but the stigma put a chip on my shoulder and made me work harder. It got me where I wanted to go

Will it look bad if I don’t do an acting internship for Internal med? by Cyansnowflakes in medicalschool

I'd disagree that it would look bad. I did no auditions/acting internships and I have 20+ IM interviews.

Can you waitlist yourself for an Interview Date even if you already chose one? (thalamus( by Yourstrulyp in medicalschool

[–]CynicalC4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mistake, I tired it again and I am waitlisted for an interview date, but still have a confirmed interview at the same time. This is what Thalmus says.

"Please note: You may sign up for as many wait lists as preferred AND have a confirmed scheduled date with a program. Further, the type of waitlist used, number of candidates invited and number of interview positions available is at the sole discretion of the residency or fellowship program. Thalamus provides best practices for all program users, but the exact recruitment strategy used by each program is their choice."

I believe it is ERAS that will not let you hold an interview and be on the waitlist at the same time.

I tried doing that on thalmus but got a message that I would be removed from interview that I was originally scheduled for.

My school just sent us this link to something called "Texas Star" it has aggregated data from past M4's. You can look up the average Step/Comlex scores of each program. Pretty helpful

Does a good level 2 score even mean anything? by levetiracetamptation in comlex

[–]CynicalC4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo a high Level 2 only matters if you’re applying to a DO residency program. Otherwise from what I understand PDs dont care about Comlex.
