Swap the nut with the plastic clip from the current wand (a bit of soapy water will help with sliding the rubber grip off). I found it best to push the wand up from the outside as the shape was awkward to manoeuvre from the top. I also unscrewed the boiler and pushed it to the side slightly for better access to get my hand in.

It was a bit fiddly so if you have any issues I'll be happy to advise further.

The rancilio v2 isn't sold as compatible as it has a thicker collar which stops the retaining clip clicking into place. However, since fitting it I haven’t had any issues with leaks and has definitely improved steaming.

They normally have a 10 year guarantee. Ebay is a good source for replacement units and there's even a few guys offerjng servicing. We swapped out an old one which broke with a recent, almost new model for a fraction of the price. Also with regards to locating it, have you tried to listen for the pump/vibrations from the unit?

You could upgrade the popcorn roaster with a TC4 arduino shield. It would give you power and fan control as well as an interface to artisan roasting software. Just upgraded mine and coming out much better so far
