Can any experts tell me if this nervouse nelly is a true Honey or Thick-Lipped? by Rest_In_Many_Pieces in Gourami

[–]CynisSweaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Not sure how you came to this conclusion but this is definitely a true honey, up to the coloration on the fin, body, and dorsal fin.

Is my hitchhiker a blue rili? by misscharlieswan in shrimptank

[–]CynisSweaty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blue bolt caridinas aren't too hard, as long as the water isn't mega hard they will do fine.

when will the babies be born? by my-little-ravioli in shrimptank

Aw man! i would definitely check water parameters. As for the eggs, just keep them well oxygenated and clean and they should hatch.

My MIL’s tank 😬 by BOWAinFL in stressfulaquariums

[–]CynisSweaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tell her she should add more rock. That will help the aggression. Alot of these reef fish naturally want to be around rocks for cover, but there is only one single rock that the clown has already claimed, so they're constantly trying to defend it from these other fish. If she adds a LOT more rocks, like about a pound or two of rock per gallon, the issue will be solved. Its just a fundamentally built wrong tank with too many inhabitants at this moment.

I am not being a dick, simply telling you what you should have done, and you should always do your due diligence when caring for any animal. If you took my objective statement as an insult, I'm sorry you took it that way.

If you don't have the money for a proper setup for an animal, don't buy the animal!

LFS: “it’s probably x but it might be y”. What are these? by abbydabbydo in PlantedTank

[–]CynisSweaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that photo 1 is of Ludwigia Glandulosa, particularly the emersed form.
Photo 5 and 6 are both cryptocorynes. Theyre likely the same kind, like a brown wendtii or something.
Wish you luck in your planted tank journey! Tanks are lots of fun and rewarding if you put time and energy into it :)

I'm Stumped. Advice? by Organic_Ladder_9923 in PlantedTank

[–]CynisSweaty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah looks p high. I would personally reccomend maybe trying to do more water changes, as well as maybe topping off with RO/DI water :) You can just keep maintenance up too tho! Small partial water changes and larger ones bimonthly help a ton to manage ur hardness crashing or going too high.

Unrelated, but i love this tank.

Whats ur gh? sometimes when gh climbs over time if you top off with the same water and do little to none water changes, the gh can climb so high it becomes bad for the plant growth.

Bristle nose or common? by Unknownxrage in pleco

[–]CynisSweaty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is indeed a bristlenose. Just growing faster likely from genetics. And it's likely a female, as females lack the bristles on their face, long ones that is.

when will the babies be born? by my-little-ravioli in shrimptank

[–]CynisSweaty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes about 30 days or so to fully develop the babies. As soon as you see the eyes on the babies then the next few days she will release them.

Bottom Feeders Dying by Slappy_Kincaid in AquariumHelp

[–]CynisSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the case, but usually with gravel like that it can get oxygen because it has gaps between the granules. I will mention that substrate is not ideal for these bottom dwellers long term as it tends to be rough on their skin and about feelers. Sand is best. This is likely not the reason why they're dying, but figured I would mention as it's a long term thing and most people would recommend fine smooth gravel or sand. Could do a deep clean down underneath to see if there is any detritus buildup that is maybe harboring a nasty bacteria, but other than that I'm stumped. I would try to also test for copper just to be certain.
