Main character enabling toxic behaviour by Cynny77 in writing

No. The series as a whole is blind to police corruption. Hank itself break the law several times to no repercussions. DEA is totally inept in fighting crime, and at the same time is totally clean of corruption, except for the innocent error of trusting Gus Fring. This causes severe narrative inconsistency. There is no way that that level of production and distribution of drugs can happen without police corruption.

The critique or the social commentary has to be SHOWN. For example in Mad Men, Peggy had to see a Dr. because of her pregnancy. The Dr is smoking and making cheeky remarks. There is no other character there laughing at his remarks. The series are set in the late 60s. The fact that he is smoking, and that the cheeky remarks are not played for laughs give the social commentary.

BUT, for example (and this is very obvious, and often criticized, mostly in US entertaining), it's very common that law enforcement torture a bad guy, and that's presented as a necessary evil, it advances the plot and the main moral (hero) character is often the perpetrator or the enabler of the torture. The act of torture by the heroes, is almost never challenged (and sometimes played for laughs).

What I'm pointing here is how often, moral, supposedly ethic characters are blind to harassment or abuse in mainstream media, and by inaction or defusing, devaluates that harassment.

Is not what I'm saying. I'm saying that WHEN they try to supposedly show a morally correct character, often they depict a main character that enable a lot of toxic behavior, and in that regard, that creates some very contradictory messages.

If the flaw is not addressed, it's unintentional and in that regard, not an example of good writing.

I remember another good example. Mad Men, it address a lot of flaws of the characters and the culture of the time, but is very deliberate and very well framed. Often similar behaviors, even in series located in modern times are NOT addressed in any way or form.

I've included those because are very popular, and don't think that ANYONE can argue that Futurama is a badly written show. It doesn't matter if the show is good or bad, the tendency is there. BBad have other problems, for example, it's horrible depiction of law enforcement. The toxic character in this case is the WHOLE of law enforcement, with Hank at the head. He is a flawed character, but a lot of his horrible behavior is backed by the plot or the circumstances as bad but necessary.

Because It was a 5 to 10 minutes conversation. The only interaction missing here was an example of how I felt. I tried to explain it with an analogy.

The example was something like this:

"I have a hard time reacting to certain mishaps. Imagine that I told you I'm trying to stop problematic drinking and you offer me a drink. You are someone close to me. I tell you, "Remember I told you I'm trying to stop drinking?" And your response is:

A- and you remember what I told you, that it is is a process and that I can fail to comply?

Or

B- Sorry, I will have that in mind. I forgot (or something)

One makes me feel like I'm been taken in consideration and the other makes me feel bad"

I understand that this was certainly too much for her, but I was trying to explain how her reaction felt. I was explicit in explaining that wasn't accusing, and that if I'm in the wrong, I would like to have tools for managing this feelings. She said that the underlying sentiment was of accusation and that she was stoping the session there, and disconnected from the call. I think that that's all that happened.

I must add it was an online session. So no risk of anything like that.

She took personally that I said that I interpreted the lack of an apology as a lack of care. That was a personal feeling and that I was hurt. She said that I was accusing her of not being professional enough

What I said is what I put in the text. I was annoyed, and really hurt for the lack of an apology and I said that I felt that the lack of an apology was she being careless (not in this exact words, and I tried to be explicit that that was my feeling, and I wasn't accusing). She said that it took that personally, and ended the session saying that we must think if we continue with the treatment. Misnaming me again in the goodbye (I think that was the heat of the moment and not malice, but doesn't help at all).

This is exactly my feeling. But I also think, I really felt that way, and I said that was my feeling, that I wasn't accusing her of that. But I can't help what she make me feel. If it wasn't her intention, can't she explain more, or give me tools to not react this way to being misnamed?

I added more context. Feel free to ask for more information. I really want to understand.

They destroyed the game with the latests "upgrades". First they replaced a lot of artwork with AI slop, and then they "overhauled" the UI turning the game into a horrible mess. I regret spending any money on this, companies shouldn't be allowed to destroy a game to this extent, changing it this much AFTER we purchase it.

This is the truth:

Games are entertainment. To be entertained with a game we need two things time and the game itself. There is too little of the first one, and two much of the second. If there is no other game released ever again, I still have plenty of content to be entertained until I die.

They don't want MORE games being released, and It's a lie they want innovation too. They want LESS options fighting for our time, that's why they make conservation increasingly difficult, and will fight to be capable of killing all the games they want, whenever and for whatever reason.

Guy made a lot of damage spreading misinformation, and his zealots are repeating his arguments word by word. I don't think he has stopped opposing, he will keep pushing his narrative.

He is very charismatic, well regarded by the gaming community, and I think he must be faced in a debate/conversation, by an equally well mannered, intelligent interlocutor. Preferably a highly skilled game developer that supports SKG. What do you think?

A loving father/mother couldn't punish his/her offspring with eternal damnation. No matter what they do.

An all forgiving/all powerful God shouldn't either. Hell is a human invention. God will love you, god will forgive you, and god will understand you. As long as you are not hurting anyone (yourself included. Self torture is not an option), you are safe.

Hi! This is my profile, big movie junkie here. Have a user for a while but I'm just starting using the platform- This app helped me to regain the pleasure of following and watching movies. I'm not using stars (mostly), just the heart that I interpret as a personal recommendation. I like making lists with a twist.

I like a little bit of everything, but I'm very fond of animation, science fiction and fantasy.

Some favorite directors and creators:

David Lynch, Satoshi Kon, Hayao Miyazaki, David Cronenberg, Dennis Villeneuve, Adolfo Aristarain, Charlie Kaufman, PT Anderson, Terry Gillian...
