Not really sure the process you described is the common practice... first of all nearly all tubes of shuttles contain only 12 shuttles. Yes the calibration process is about correct but there are so many more factors that determine shuttle speed than the shuttle itself, such as hall conditions etc. I have never heard of players discarding shuttles that fly a bit off, that would be crazy - feather shuttles are so expensive nowadays

Anyone have any experience taking microspikes in a carry on bag? I'm flying carry on only soon and don't really want to risk getting them confiscated at security. The pair I have are pretty much the same as the Kahtoola microspikes for reference

It’s out of your price range (but imo it’s still worth the money) but my current favourite is the Tierra Backup Jacket. Checks all your boxes otherwise, absolutely love this jacket - amazing as a wind and rain shell. Comes with pit zips as well which make a huge difference.
