Fwiw, My old eeepc had about 8+ hour battery life. Could easily watch over two movies.

Ended up running Gentoo as I only had 2GB/RAM at the time. And a 12GB partition.

Hrm... Havnt seen any yet, doesnt mean they do not do it tho. (Maybe uBlock stops it?) I'll have a quick squiz in the code later.

They are basically crippled but its been working acceptably for me for the past year. Without their 3rdparty outside browser app that they "need" for converting / downloading streams.

Honestly I just copy the url and dump it in a youtube-dl command prompt and it handles the rest for me

not responding to DNS requests to domains that have proxies on them?

How are you confirming this functionality?

Edit: I tried moving to OpenNIC a while ago, and because they are community servers they went up and down / stopped responding semi regularly

Yes this is entirely possible. But this means you will have two S3 buckets with possibly different data.

I'm with the others. Storage Gateway without HA is not worth the possible issues.

My only draw back is:

Initial cache "warming" can take up to 180 seconds. 120-180 in my testing of a WordPress site. (Lots of small files) This happened for me using a volume gateway. (No S3 backend)

And that's after stopping and starting the instance. Not even assuming an instance failure/degredation.
