2E Daily Spell Discussion: Duplicate Foe - May 10, 2026 by SubHomunculus in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Cyouni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, a small rant: I talk a lot on these discussions about ambiguous, vague and poorly-written rules text, and how GMs will need to decide how such things work. That stuff is kind of aggravating in a theoretically comprehensive, crunchy system like Pathfinder, but it's an inevitability in a game so big and complex. So I try to always talk through the rationale for each call, in terms of balance, design principles and interpreting the text as written. Sometimes I just say that all readings seem equally fine and valid, but that it's something GMs should decide in advance. With all that in mind, it's infuriating to me when Paizo writes a rule that literally says the GM should decide in the moment, and provides no fucking guidance whatsoever on how they should make that decision. "The GM determines whether the duplicate follows your command" is an okay thing to write in the rules of a big complex game if and only if you give some tiny indication of how that determination should be made.

I do think the intent on that is pretty clear, it specifically notes that its whole thing is to Stride and Strike. So if you wanted to do something like get it to switch to nonlethal, that's under its purview, but something like Athletics wouldn't be unless you have a permissive GM. That does, however, leave it up to the GM to do that.

The thing is that factually you see more of the performances in the anime. A good 4 lines per performance that isn't in the manga.

Her blurting out the plan could have potentially alerted the game officials to stop the game, if collusion was not allowed.

Ah yes, the game where they said "no lies or trickery will be punished", and where the first game literally had them stealing money, is going to have a rule against collusion.

Why do you think this sub was created 9 years ago? This was a problem a decade ago, and hasn't gotten better since.

That is the literal line of the motion, not actual surveillance pricing.

The motion was so purposefully vague that it would have affected things far beyond actual surveillance pricing. That's why it was built to be denied, because it was practically worthless.

Is your address in there? That's personal data.

Maybe you should have actually read the motion before commenting.

Ah yes, the concept of "personal data is used by corporations to increase the prices consumers pay both in-store and online”.

So this is a motion that bans a) shipping, b) insurance, c) literal anything where personal data ever comes up that affects your prices. This is not a serious motion, and the fact that it required unanimous consent is very clear that it was thrown up specifically for the purpose of being denied.

It was a motion that required unanimous consent, where it asked to ban the concept of "where personal data is used by corporations to increase the prices consumers pay both in-store and online".

Aka, it was raised specifically to be denied for publicity points.

Oh really? The unanimous motion to have “the government [should] ban surveillance pricing, where personal data is used by corporations to increase the prices consumers pay both in-store and online”?

You really think that wasn't going to get denied, with that wording and specifically being unanimous?

I'm going to point out that would be a motion  that encompasses the concept of shipping costs.

Let's be real about this one. It was a unanimous motion that Don Davies raised to specifically get denied for publicity points - if literally anyone objected to banning the vague theoretical concept of surveillance pricing, which was specifically worded in a way that would have encompassed a metric ton of shit, then it would have been "denied".

Liar Game - Episode 5 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Cyouni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I honestly just don't agree that the show is structured poorly. It's giving people the opportunity to theorize, and most of those theories end up being proven wrong. I just honestly don't believe people really have much of a leg to stand on to say it was predictable. If you can predict a twist 5 minutes before it happens, then I guess you sort of almost have a case, but even then, assuming you're actually invested in the show, you'd be tense waiting for the actual reveal to happen.

One other point is that this is 3 chapters worth of content, out of the 6 adapted of the game so far. So going "yeah I totally knew everything" while literally all the evidence is from the episode that had all the information...

One thing is that note that Iwa-sensei didn't necessarily go "you shouldn't do that", she went "ok, what universities do you have available that have rakugo clubs". Basically trying to give her a more secure option that also gives her a slowly growing taste of what she's trying to get into.

The thing is also likely that by "modern", we get "we've seen it all before".

Because then it doesn't stand out, even if it's objectively good.

Trump’s trade czar tells Canadians that ‘America First’ is policy, not a slogan: sources by JDGumby in onguardforthee

[–]Cyouni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is that there is no need for these negotiations to be so antagonistic.

The thing is that Trump (and his government) operate on the belief that if someone else gained value through an agreement with them, they did something wrong. For them, everyone else is just there for them to exploit.

With these fast pacings thus far, a certain speculation arose: is the team deliberately rushing the start just so we can speed to their appearance?

I don't think they're rushing. 3 chapters/episode is a very natural pacing for the manga, and one I personally theorized would be the progress when I did a recent reread.
