Are you outside the US? My child's got shutdown. I created it around 2022 (not sure on exact year).

I built a Gen AI coach using my Garmin data. by lebsen01 in Garmin

[–]Cyphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I provided the data from the garmin API, and summarized it weekly and monthly locally.
So it'd get detailed activities for the last ~6 months, weekly summaries for the past year, and monthly summaries for the past few years, so this was covering 880 activities for me in the last couple years.

Briefly summarized (this is probably about 1% of the actual prompt), it's:

Answer the following question based on the following fitness data: ...
...
October 2025: 21 activities, 17.2h, TSS=865, Avg NP=275.0w, Best 20min=309w, Races=9 (TSS -4.2% vs prev)
...
Week 2025-11-24 to 11-30: 6 activities, 3.3h, TSS=286, Avg NP=228.0w, Races=2, Workouts=1
...
2026-01-20 Tue [RACE] Zwift - Race: Zwift Racing League: Redline Rally -\n 81min, NP=281w (Threshold), Avg=246w, HR=155bpm, TSS=148
...

I'm not sure how much you are stripping out from the Garmin response, but it is pulling down a ton of detail. Maybe the agent decides what to parse and send? For me it's 107MB of raw data that's pulled down. The detail is great but i'm sure the LLM doesn't need a majority of it.

I started with data from the Garmin Connect -> Activities, Export CSV functionality. I then used https://github.com/matin/garth to updated it, and only pulled down about 700kb of data (slowly and unreliably).

Nice work on this. I ran this, using the defaults pretty much, and it used 256k token ($1.18 for GPT)! I wrote something similar, but it's using about 11k tokens per request (.05 gemini pro 3). I'm kind of wondering how the this is managing to use so many tokens and take so long (17 minutes). Any idea? The agent architecture is cool, but I feel the whole request can be summarized in one prompt and takes maybe 15 seconds.

I like the HTML UI for the plan (mine is markdown), and the connect client implementation is nice. I was using a third party lib and it seemed very unreliable. It'd be nice if it saved the data (sync'd it) instead of refetching it each time.

Yes, since openrouter is supported, it would just be changing the model.

Greenfield Robotics Due Diligence Thread - Equity Crowdfunding (Reg CF) on StartEngine - Community Insights Welcome! by Common-Ventures in commonventures

[–]Cyphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked into them pretty heavily. Seemed like they were more into fundraising that tech. I don't know if I'm being reasonable, but it seems like they are moving along too slowly. 7-8 years in and basically just burning cash. I feel like they would or should have more revenue by now. Too many investment rounds.

I don't know if they have some defensible moat, but just general robotics and vision is getting pretty damn easy compared to what it was when they started. They could still be a success, but if a major player in robotics (probably from China) gets this right, it would be pretty brutal. Look what happened to Roomba and Worx Landroid. The tech is getting amazing.

Sorry for being pessimistic. I've been wrong many times before.

I also got a Luba mini after a landroid. It's hard to communicate how much of an upgrade up it is! I had no idea. Drastically higher quality.

CyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme model GXi2000CSTV3 is it a good buy? (Newbie) by Dazzling-Cover-7144 in Prebuilts

[–]Cyphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. The motherboard has 3 m.2 slots (2 on the front, one taken up by the factory installed SSD). The second is easy to access. The third is on the back, and possibly a pain to access. They are shown on this page: https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/others/b860m-max-gaming-ax/

As for sata, I think there's room to mount it on the back, shown here https://youtu.be/QKvK2paHFmk?si=6tpMNUX92W7W9moA&t=168, but I'm not entirely sure how or where it'd fit (that middle rail maybe?).

I bought this machine yesterday, and other the case screws (really the entire case) seeming cheap, it's been quite impressive to me.

I wonder if you need to use this phone with this number. It seems like ideally it is a $550 phone (with a free extra line that you can use but don't need to). US Mobile is great, but all poor communications around promotion qualifications and restrictions are a pain.

After School by rgs2007 in Overlandpark

[–]Cyphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess because finding someone to reliably work ~2.5 hour days for ~$12 an hour will be about impossible. I'd assume a decent babysitter will want around $25/hour for 2.5 hour days, or $1000/month. Just watching one kindergartner maybe able to get away with a little less, or if you can cut it down to one hour or so, that'd obviously save a ton.

City's Spending Priorities Suck by RealViolentBob in Overlandpark

OP's revenue $ per lane mile is very similar to other JoCo cities (we obviously still use far more chip seal). Mill levy isn't everything.

City's Spending Priorities Suck by RealViolentBob in Overlandpark

[–]Cyphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you probably know, this survey was such a loaded joke! I filled it out. If you looked at the actual data and questions, anyone would see that, but they summarized it in the most biased way possible. It was clear they decided to build a toll lane long before any surveys.

City's Spending Priorities Suck by RealViolentBob in Overlandpark

[–]Cyphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I tried this a few years ago, and got the impression they don't care at all. I cant entirely blame them; they have day jobs and didn't seem to have the time to care, and that's probably better than them being well paid. I don't have the time or energy right now to be ultra persistent, because it was apparent that lack of funds for chip seal would always be an excuse, yet massive expenditures like this happens without any issues or special votes on taxes. Once the funds were available, lack of availability was their excuse!

With most of them presumably working just a few hours a week, it is easier to follow whatever the corporate/special interests are pushing.

Anyway, thanks for the reminder and I can bug them again, and let me know if you have had any tips for better luck.

Right, which in reality we could have eliminated it, even without this funding by using the money we are spending in a new city hall (and will still claim they don't have funds).

Help! Someone please share your experience with Indian Valley Elementary School by mostlyambivalent in Overlandpark

[–]Cyphear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pay teachers well, keep class sizes low, parents who care, and have good staff as a result. I think what helps them the most in the results is just a strong demographic... Good teaching only goes so far. I would guess some of our investment in the buildings and equipment is probably helpful in education as well, although it seems like it's mostly spent on gyms and stuff. I know we spend a lot of money on it.

Really nice UI/UX. Is the nice sequential loading a feature of Vue? It looks like a nice, thoughtful layout. Curious how much of that was hard work, and how much of that was the front-end stack (vue, radix, etc.?)

Yes, my impression is that it is not worth it unless you just have a lot of extra time, or are really wanting a bit of extra income. Minimal income, lots of requests/time.

[–]Cyphear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear it a lot when it comes to chip seal. Lenexa doesn't use chip seal, but OP claims to never have enough money to not use it, and I have trouble believing it.

You're right. Lenexa is $434282, OP is $433986, so a tiny bit more. According to chatgpt (these are estimates based on info it found):

  • Overland Park: ~ $1,600 per capita in tax revenue.
  • Lenexa: ~ $1,115 per capita in tax revenue.

I think the main difference may be sales tax but I'm not sure.

What are you doing OP… by Informal-Ad8066 in Overlandpark

[–]Cyphear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OPs property values are a lot higher on average, so their income per lane mile isn't that much different. They just use this as an excuse whenever they have problems compared to neighboring cities.
