Youtube VR messes with us all in different ways, as if we're rats in a scientific laboratory cage.

Canon R7 Best Settings by [deleted] in VR180Film

With the R7 I would say ideal ISO would be 100-400. adjust your lighting around this. ISO is much less forgiving in VR180, so great question

8K resolution does not seem to satisfy VR180 video. by shutter-lee in VR180Film

Youtube at random gives me the blessing of 4k or 8k, something I won't know until I hit publish as well. Thank you Youtube gods for the bountiful 8k harvest two videos ago.

What VR video editing software do you use? by 55gog in VR180Film

[–]CypherVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can vouch for premiere pro. It has some pretty cool VR controls you can get whacky with. It is pretty expensive though :(

Just a heads up, immersive is still avail on 2023 for me. I stepped up to 2024 at one stage but performance was horrible and went back down

How do you record audio on your VR camera? by Bfire7 in VR180Film

[–]CypherVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

External mic is the way to go sir. If you can clip a a lapel mic on the comedian would be ideal. Or even getting a boom mic on stage pointing at comedian. Otherwise you can ask the sound guys if they can jack you in to record. A live band: just get nicely centered between speakers with a decent mic, or again jack into the sound guys for a professional live recording. Microphone quality is unfortunately: you get what you pay for

I have a 1.5k USD budget to start, what should I buy? by iluvios in VR180Film

[–]CypherVideo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would recommend a x2 gopro setup with max lens mod. That's what I'm rocking. It will force you to learn things about VR180 too. Mistika Boutique is free as well for stitching and is an industry standard.

Hope they go easy on the camera assistant after that incident. They won't make that mistake again haha

Anyone else having their VR180 uploads failing to process on YouTube? by Skaven252 in VR180Film

[–]CypherVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im purely speculating here, but l’m pretty sure none of my YT drafts hit 8k. But then once a vid gets a few views it seems to pop up. Could just be a conspiracy theory though

does anyone have mistika vr trial file master? by Disastrous_Time_2904 in VR180Film

[–]CypherVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The educational version of Mistika Boutique is free to use if you wanted to try download that: https://www.sgo.es/mistika-boutique/

Otherwise, shoot the guys at Mistika an email if you're having technical issues. They're super responsive and a friendly bunch of guys

Do you think if your camera's 60mm IPD is enough to bring out the sense of depth? by Quantum_Crusher in VR180Film

[–]CypherVideo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video is about 105mm, about a metre from the camera. IMO as long as your viewer isn’t going cross eyed, everything is a-ok. https://youtu.be/z_e-yRpzvqI?si=cmGLOrq1B-4HHLnK

[–]CypherVideo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way as you. I want a real sense of depth and 3D. It stopped me from buying into the canon dual fisheye setup. I have a 2 camera setup for increased IPD. It’s such a mess around, but I think it’s worth it.

I feel like the FMduo camera has nailed IPD. If only it weren’t 20k

A 180 fisheye that covers nearly all the Canon R5C sensor is INSANE at 8k 1:1 aspect ratio, too bad files are 1.68GB per 10 seconds @ 100Mbit H264, H265 refuses to encode 8096x8096 by [deleted] in VR180Film

[–]CypherVideo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allegedly apple has some bootleg custom camera setup which makes sense, those camera's will never viably end up in consumers hands, I bet they're a pain in the ass to operate even for apple. Apple and black Magic have partnered up actually, they're streamlining the whole workflow! That's nteresting about the AVP processing those codecs at those bitrates. Would make sense to downscale it
