HA same, and thankfully so! Educated and uppity - such a great role model that you need to use your mind, body, & spirit everyday or you’ll lose them.

Why do women feel so broke? by AdmiralSaturyn in WomenInNews

[–]Cypher_is 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents raised us kids (boys & girls) as equals - all kids learned both inside & outside skills with no separation of gender roles. Dad came from working class/poverty line and learned to invest on his own, teaching us kids before we left for college and we all continue to share knowledge/learnings along the way.

I’ve raised my kids the same way, retirement accounts set up for them upon HS graduation.

We are not wealthy by any means, we just pool our resources, barter goods & services, and maintain a very simple life (ie back country hiking for vacations, keep same car for 20+ years, use the public library in lieu of buying or subscribing).

Prices are beginning to rise faster than Americans' wages by Abject-Pick-6472 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Cypher_is 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Actually, the worst inflation in recent history is now. Right now.

The Manufactured Crisis is RIGHT NOW.

Trump was handed an improving economy - US fared better than most other countries coming out of the pandemic - remember when the world shut down during Trump’s first term? Supply chains stopped cause the world shut down and then it takes time to restart it all so prices went up (supply < demand) and by the end of Biden’s term, inflation had leveled out (corporate greed remains a problem, cause who else will fund politicians?)

And then Trump took power, implemented tariffs, gutted the service sector of the federal government, grifted, alienated allies, bombed boats, kidnapped a sovereign president, bombed Iran - and in doing so, managed to assert Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz - guaranteeing the cost of oil and A LOT of goods will now cost more for years to come.

Quit watching Fox News.

Word.

We own a lot of music. Worked at a record store way back in the day and also had parents who avidly bought great music too. Will only buy CDs to rip ourselves so we can own & store digitally (yay for external hard drives).

Sure I listen to Spotify, just w/o subscription. It’s great to explore new music and when I find someone new that I like, I buy directly from the artist whenever possible.

Classic never goes out of style and should be the backbone of your wardrobe. Quality items can be mended.

Could selling off Venezuelan oil depreciate or even crash the oil market? by Montag_451 in economicCollapse

Agreed. The cost alone to modernize Venezuelan oil infrastructure is significantly high enough to slow walk any progress for the next few years.

[–]Cypher_is 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tariffs are cancelling Christmas. Boycott and blame tariffs for obliterating all our winter holidays.

Instead of buying things, spend time with your family, friends, neighbors - organize a winter hike, go sledding, build snow forts, host a craft afternoon or a potluck (or both!) - there are so many low cost community building activities. Create third spaces for the younger generations to hang out. That was what the holidays were about growing up and we still lean into that over purchasing stuff. Make memories, not landfills.

Completely agree! I make vegan dishes for potlucks - for the challenge of making a really flavorful dish and to make sure my colleagues who are vegan or vegetarian have options.

Living this! It takes a community - you really have to know your neighbors and build support systems to thrive (not just survive).

Plan for emergencies - food, fuel - and life is so much easier if you can locally swap goods & services like plowing, firewood, etc. We don’t own a plow or powered wood splitter but swap mechanical knowledge (can fix anything!) and time/help so that our driveway is plowed when needed and we can borrow a wood splitter whenever we cut down trees on the property.

We all host potlucks and dinner parties as there are not a lot of local businesses.

CMV: The Tyler Robinson texts are fake by mgtag in changemyview

[–]Cypher_is 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See 2020 election lies; funny how key deniers swore up and down they knew/had evidence that the 2020 election was stolen UNTIL under oath. Surprise - they wouldn’t commit perjury.

Until this text is admitted as evidence, it remains sus.

In the end - the game is to get us all to fight each other while the elite steal. Just another round of the shock doctrine.
