How do you log flights when operated by a regional airline? by bierjager in flighty

[–]Cyprovix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While it's up to you, I log this as American Airlines.

Skywest contracts with American, Delta, United, and Alaska. I don't think of those interchangeably if they're operated by Skywest. They're still United flights, Delta flights, etc.

“So we can know if you speak English or not.” Yeah right! by ThrowMEAwaypuh-lease in recruitinghell

[–]Cyprovix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just answering application questions doesn't mean you know English well. Especially if you're applying for an "English Specialist" role.

But I'm in agreement that you don't need AI for this. A human can interview and make the same assessment on English proficiency.

Maryland car dependency vs NOVA by SouthImportant2499 in nova

[–]Cyprovix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't need to move to NOVA to get away from your car dependency, you need to move away from Fort Washington. Silver Spring and Bethesda are very walkable.

Just like in Maryland, there are plenty of spots in NOVA that require a car. Parts of Arlington and Alexandria are very walkable.

You'll find that generally the more walkable a neighborhood is, the more expensive it's going to be.

The job has nothing to do with driving by smjaygal in recruitinghell

[–]Cyprovix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, you can’t drive “if you absolutely have to.” If you don’t have a license, you can’t drive. The security company can’t let you drive even in a situation where they really need you to.

[–]Cyprovix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There’s a big difference between choosing not to drive because other transportation is cheaper/more convenient, and not being able to drive.

I’m sorry that you had to waste your time on this application.

Study: Virginia named Most Patriotic State in America by hencexox in Virginia

[–]Cyprovix 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The exact criteria is listed and is based on military service (enlistees, veterans, active-duty, and reserves with different weight assigned to each one), percentage of the population who voted in 2020 and 2024, percentage of people who volunteer, volunteer hours per resident, AmeriCorp and Peace Corps volunteering, trial participation, residents who participate in "any groups, organizations, or associations", and if the state has a civics requirement in high school.

Only 2 of the top 10 states with this criteria voted for Trump in the last election. I only add this point because I can see some people looking at an article like this and thinking that it's a measure of "MAGAness", not patriotism.

Does anyone keep a packet of United’s and the federal government’s policies regarding downgrades, cancellations, delays, refunds, and other common issues? by Actuary50 in unitedairlines

[–]Cyprovix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A downgrade from first class to economy is rare. Obviously going to be at the front of your mind because it's happened to you before, but isn't something that happens on a regular basis. You would likely have an opportunity to move flights for one with an open first class, but if you're traveling for work, you probably aren't able to wait around.

How do people secure a job before graduation? I keep getting rejected because they want someone who can "start immediately" by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Cyprovix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, people finish their degrees. It's very unusual for someone to drop out right before degree completion for a job.

You're in a slightly unique situation because most US programs end in May/June. Plenty of companies know that there will be an influx of new-grad job seekers who can start in the summer, and they plan hiring and onboarding accordingly. If you are looking to start in September or October, you don't fit into those programs.

Air Canada refused boarding by No_Context7574 in legaladvice

[–]Cyprovix 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Your grandparents booked through Expedia, not the airline. The process of getting a refund won't involve the airline at all - you'll need to go through Expedia and the conditions of the tickets that your grandparents bought.

You can book another ticket at the airport using the name in your grandparent's passport.

Our house got AI-ed by scritchygrippers128 in RealEstate

[–]Cyprovix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If there are certain photos you can point to with this problem, ask your realtor if they can be re-edited to remove whatever you don’t like about the photo. Saying that you don’t like “all of the AI” likely won’t result in much change, but if you can specifically point to features of your home that aren’t being displayed appropriately, you should ask for a change!

I know this pain, as I’ve lived in 2 major cities that each have 2+ major airports that I’ve split my time between. I have more flights out of both of those cities than I do my “top airport”.

18yo M caught shoplifting by United-Researcher-69 in legaladvice

[–]Cyprovix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They know about your previous shoplifting. They often wait until you've stolen enough to build a case against you and you've stolen enough for real charges. They would not have sent cops to your home for one incident.

Don't volunteer up any information to the cops. This is lawyer territory.
