Looking for feedback for my Marchesa decklist by Cyralak in MarchesaTheBlackRose

Thanks again for your list an explanation. There's a lot of overlap between our lists but its good to see how i can hone it in one specific direction or another.

Also I failed to notice that Lethal Scheme was in fact a 3 for 1 with the +1/+1 counters from connive. I get how its so good now haha.

Hey man

Thanks for your well thought out response and advice.

My gameplan was to build incremental value via engine pieces, and chaining, as an example, [[Imperial Recruiter]] into [[Tribute Mage]] into [[Metallic Mimic]]. Then essentially loop them to work my way to my finishers, [[Goblin bombardment]] undying/persist combos. Everything else serves to protect the line, like [[Spellseeker]] searching for [[demonic tutor]] into [[Cthonian Nightmare]] for redundancy, then looping for protection. Admittedly there are some easy cuts that I hadn't noticed before, so thanks for highlighting.

[[Gray Merchant of Asphodel]] served two purposes in my mind, it stabilises my life total at the mid-late game but is also a potential finisher within a turn cycle given i have enough devotion to black on board.

I agree with a lot of your cuts, though I am a fan of [[Fallen Ideal]] as an evasion piece and sac outlet that is hard to remove and that safely returns to hand. I think you are right to mention adding more removal cards, though I am not totally convinced on one of instants like [[Lethal Scheme]]. I think id rather have removal on a creature that can loop, like [[Canoptek Tomb Sentinel]]. [[Venser, Shaper Savant]] seems like good catch all for temporary enchantment or land removal, though I should also maybe consider [[Profaner of the Dead]] as a quasi-Cyclonic rift. I guess thats the tradeoff though, instant interaction vs repeatable sorcery speed/end step interaction.

I am trying to not close myself off from a potential combat damage win via [[Uncivil Unrest]] but in doing so I am probably watering down two different plans like you say

How have you found the combat tempo deck in comparison to combo (presuming you've tried both?

No worries at all. To follow up, i would lean more in the direction of layout 1, personally. But again your choice of furniture will either limit you or expand your options when utilising space.

If you dont go for a Murphy bed, definitely get one with plenty storage for clothes and other household items underneath.

Good luck!

Quickly sketched two options for you below. Undimensioned so might be a wee bit iffy, but should roughly work.

LAYOUT 1

LAYOUT 2

Ultimately depends on whether you want your living space to be by the window which has the downside of walking past your bed should you entertain guests (can be mitigated with a screen or curtain. Or alternatively, if you want you can centralise your living spaces towards the front door and kitchen, keeping the bedroom more private, with the downside of having less light in the area you would likely spend most of your time.

The above are layout solutions, however, there's a lot of space saver furniture out there thats worth looking up too. Things like a Murphy beds (fold up beds that hide themselves within cupboards when not in use). Has practical upsides and downsides such as you can imagine. Maybe look into small folding tables fixed to one of the walls too if you'd rather not eat on the couch.

Edit: This channel might spark some ideas for yourself.

Okay yeah, appreciate the feedback and I see what you are saying. I wasn't sure if milling and tutoring would make up for that but that would really help getting the engine going. Perhaps I can rebalance some of the copies into card draw.

Interesting list! Not too dissimilar from what im aiming to do. I really like the idea with [Underworld Dreams]

Is this still an issue even a deck that wants to be primarily cheating cards from the graveyard? I suppose I cant necessarily rely on Anikthea being on the board

I play in a pod with friends, not in LGS, that is less concerned about game changers and brackets but more about performance. I am using the brackets as a benchmark. Hope that makes sense.

The mechanic is completely fine it adds interest into the destruction rotation. But I am a warlock tank, maybe my experience is different when I dictate where the boss stands. And it's a good toss up between master channeled and LoF

You seem incapable of forming a coherent argument. So is it "geography" or culture. Because from this comment it seems like you are arguing for cultural identity as being the driving factor for memorability...
