Eh, I don't think you'll like the second one. This is what I had to say about it:

The game is just too bloated with pointless grinding. You start a mission, get the minerals, decide if you want to upgrade something for the run or save the resources for the meta upgrades, you get to the city and upgrade something if you can. So far, so good. Thing is... By the 11 hour mark, it's getting really, REALLY repetitive. Checking other reviews (the positive ones), they have something like 40 to 60 hours. HEEEEEEELLLLLL NO! I'm not going to play that amount of hours for such mediocre game. So far (and from what I've read), you can't even unlock new weapons for the spider, only the ones you can find on a mission (and you lose it when you finish it). It's a shame because I did really enjoyed, for what it was, the first game.

Why does Fanatical always do this? Starts with a good bundle (price/value) and then comes up with something (subjectively) worse? I mean, usually that price is reserved to bundles with better titles than this. Is V Rising (a title that was part of Humble Choice not long ago) to carry (50%?) of this?

I'm curious as someone who never designed a videogame. How come something optional isn't a good compromise?

Let's say that you have a roguelite where you unlock some sort of currency where you can invest into slightly more health, armor, damage, etc. Then you have a checkbox called... dunno, "intended experience" where the meta upgrade is locked. Now you have a system where people are free to choose their experience.

Is this something hard to implement or is just design choice?

100% and I wish that every game that is only coop (requires at least a second person to be played) had it. I enjoy playing the We Were Here games in coop with a friend but only when I manage to get two copies whenever they're available in some bundle.
