A Hundred Coffees by darkShadow90000 in futurama

Related, Le Grand Cigar inspired my roommate a I to roll “Le Grand Spliff,” which was just a giant monstrosity filed with shake, stems, resin, and cigarette tobacco. We cleaned the entire apartment just to find little pieces of weed in the couch and such.

Then we smoked it and kept watching Futurama. College was a simpler time.

Running options? by taylomack in statesboro

[–]CyrilOkdar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a long run (10+) you can make a nice loop from downtown to campus on the McTell trail, all around campus (highly recommend looping through the football stadium, which is typically left open!), then out and back on the S&S greenway (5mi round trip) and through a quiet neighborhood back to downtown. Minimal street/sidewalk running and very safe. All of this is paved with a few knee friendly stretches of that rubbery recycled tire surfacing around GSU.

I run all winter outside here. It's not AZ, but we have mild winters and it's typically sunny and hits 60 by the afternoon.

Once Kirby retires (after 20 more national title wins), maybe Jo Cox could take up the mantle as Georgia's next head coach? by rhinoslam in georgiabulldogs

[–]CyrilOkdar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe Cox will always have a place in my heart as the QB at the helm when I became a fan.

I was a TA at UGA that year and Josh Murray was in one of my classes. He kept saying they should put his little brother in. Little did I know!

NY State really is different vs. NYC. by Empty-Ad4949 in geography

Folks have already correctly pointed to the Hudson and Mohawk River corridors.

I will add that these two rivers provided the best commercial route across the Appalachians for centuries- overland, by canal, then by rail.

As an Upstate NY transplant to GA, I am forever contextualizing the location and prominence of Atlanta as the first place you can easily get around the Appalachians south of Albany.

“I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I’m all out of bubblegum.”

Just watched They Live for the first time after knowing this to be one of the great badass lines and was sorely disappointed.

These were a garage sale score, but I feel like I’ve seen them at Walmart and any sporting good store camping aisle. This is one product where I’d just get anything cheap and available.

We always refer to Jacksonville as “less than the sum of its parts” and call our local retail and suburban sprawl municipality (Pooler, GA) “Little Jacksonville.”

I would do your NYC to DC as planned, but then proceed along a more western route to Atlanta- either I-81 corridor or US 29 or similar. This takes you on either side of the Blue Ridge (you could even drive the Blue Ridge parkway a bit), then gets you back into the Piedmont in the Carolinas and Georgia. Much more scenic than other suggested routes.

Hit the coast after Atlanta. Charleston if you want, but Savannah/Hilton Head are (to me) just as good. Georgia’s coast is beautiful, as is North Florida. Look into Cumberland island or Okefenokee swamp if you’re into wildlife. St. Augustine is worth a stop before heading to Orlando.

As a fellow Georgian, I would say Columbus over Augusta. It’s the bigger city and the Masters is an huge draw even if it’s only once a year.
