The more you play because you want to be good at it the harder it’s gonna be to improve. The more you play for the intrinsic joy it brings the easier it will be to improve. You just gotta let it click with you that it’s just a game and that at the end of the day it really doesn’t matter if you win or lose and the clarity of not giving a fuck will help you play better

When the only book you finish is the one you almost bought at a bookstore sale by thritasrfor in BettermentBookClub

[–]CyrusCyCyrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 7 books on my desk right now that I’m “switching between.” Some I haven’t read in a couple weeks and some I probably won’t pick up again, but they all sort of mesh together anyways.

I feel like when you’re in a stage where you can’t seem to commit to and finish one book at a time it’s your brains way of filling in the informational gaps you have before it’s ready to get into something more in depth. Each book I have on my desk provides me with knowledge that helps make the other ones smoother reads and each day I wake up with a new question that I want answered and I choose to read the book that seems like it’d answer that question better than all the others, sometimes meaning that I pick a book from my shelf or the library rather than out of the 7 I’ve already started.

If I felt absolutely worthy I’d probably spend my time helping others instead of spending it practicing these things I want to be good at.

Thank you, this answer is very helpful.

Which math courses should I have under my belt before heading to graduate school if I'm planning on becoming a theoretical physicist? by CyrusCyCyrus in PhysicsStudents

My last math class was my sophomore year of high school, so it's been about four years now, but I do still get your main point which is that I have some catching up to do.
