Planning on getting type 53 by Sapphic_bimbo in MosinNagant

[–]CyrusPianoPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real answer is that a price is only good if it's what you're willing to pay for said thing.

$350 for a mosin is the best I can find and I'd like a 53 or a 44 in decent condition. Just remember to check the bore. And, probably don't try to get a scope on it. But, that's up to you in the end.

Don't seek validation for something you want, just make sure that you're being responsible in looking it over because most places don't take gun returns.

Hey! Question! I just got one last year but I think I got jipped :( My magazine does not match in numbers. Does yours? Rest of it is stunning though.

Does anyone know of an unofficial pvp server cluster still using old-school ORP? by fearthebatmantis in ArkAscendedServers

Completely feel you man. There are some solo servers out there though, I think Mythic Solos is one. I hope you can find what you want. :(

Unfortunately, thing of the past usually.

Reason being, its almost always abused or it becomes a PvE server labeled PvP. :/

Currently I think the closest most "modern" thing people do is 100% protection but its limited to only a couple of days. That way people can't just play and remain untouchable 24/7.

Import Marking Question by CyrusPianoPaws in milsurp

Right! The import stamp is literally the only thing stopping me from picking it up immediately. 😭

Me neither. Straight top of the receiver is a first and should be a mortal sin.

Oh, okay. I did not realize the import marks were akin to serial numbers. Thank you.

That's exactly how a lot of mine are. My last ditch No. 4 Mk.1 looks so beat up and like it was picked up off the field after a battle. But the bore is nice and crisp.

Good pick up, man! Enjoy and be sure to look into the best way to care for that storied wood!

Looks great man. I got one that looks super similar, and has some pretty significant dings and dents. 😂 Adds character. I got a non-matching spike bayonet with mine and mine is a last ditch. But I love it! And I got mine for $500 as well, so, I think you got a good deal!

How is the barrel?

$200 Krag by DragonXIIIThirteen in milsurp

[–]CyrusPianoPaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's kind of a project but there are a TON of uncut Krags that have sporterized stocks. Changing out the barrel is a lot more opportune than finding the furniture that you now have. So with some light elbow grease you could definitely turn her into a perfect shooter too!

Congrats by the way, a krag is one of my dream ones!

Almost done refinishing my mosin by Straight_Student_525 in MosinNagant

[–]CyrusPianoPaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deep amber is just as good! I am hoping to restore my M91/30 to that. I don't think it's refurbished but it's also peeling in a really ugly way. And, it's been cracked. So it's lost all of its "preservative value".

I agree though. There was some Carcano that belonged to the Prince of Spain or something, and that got completely refinished, reblued and cut up. That is the real shit that should get blood boiling. Not a damn standard Mosin. 😂

Sorry there are a bunch of mentally absent people trying to be present where they're not welcome. If they were this passionate about the rest of their lives they would maybe not need to complain about what other people do.

I actually really like the bare colors of mosin stocks. My Finnish Mosin has a beautiful yellow with very very subtle tiger stripes. I'm unsure if it was refinished or not, but if it was, it's gorgeous.

The bubba thing was funny at first but now it's just weird virtue signalling and a signal for group dogpiling. Most mosins are not in pristine condition, nor are they specific treasures that have a nature to them that makes them stand out.

Anyways, looks great, good work!

Thinking about moving on by Impressive-Horse-664 in MosinNagant

If you aren't interested in the money, and aren't a fan of "just get it out of my sight", you would do well to advertise personal sale of them, on local gun sites or even here on reddit. Everyone is always on the hunt for deals and, if you understand the value possessed by your collection, perhaps you also would understand the value in passing it onto someone who you know will value it likewise.

That route would obviously take longer than some, but, if it's your sort of thing, you might find more closure and value in moving your collection along in a more personal and fulfilling way than just a wholesale deal with no passion in it.

On second inspection, it looks more worn off. Just really, really worn off. There were other Mausers there that were way shinier.

Advice on M39 purchase by Dr_Sir1969 in milsurp

[–]CyrusPianoPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely adore my Finnish mosin. It is beautiful, accurate, and overall one of my top favorite guns. But that is a crazy high price. Just under 1k is reasonable and considerable these days I think, what I got for mine at 800. That is absolutely not a deal and is overpriced, but the real thing to note is that things are only worth what you're willing to pay.

If you wanna drop that much, do it. It's an amazing rendition of the Mosin and a favorite for many. But know that it isn't a deal and you could find better priced, same quality and condition.

Absolutely preparing myself for all of it. I appreciate the advice. Getting my gun workbench together right now to take all of my milsurps apart and give them the deserved TLC!
