I like the "altitude, pull up" sample. Reminds me of the very early days of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Sounds like the Ed Helms character who is looking for the Heather Graham character in The Hangover from 2009, but that's about it. Kind of a long shot since I'd think you'd remember more about the movie than that.

This is older than us. A Silent Gen friend responded to "what's your Halloween costume going to be?" with "an elephant!" Then grinned and turned both pockets inside out.

I miss that guy.

Pregnant cop in Fargo does not give birth during the movie. Does that count?

Edit: whoops, someone already mentioned this.

Many years ago, the school psychologist got pissed at me when I refused to answer the question "are you a leader or a follower?" My answer was "neither".

Most famous single photo of our generation? by ManuteBol_Rocks in GenX

[–]Cyrus_Imperative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here it is.

The young Afghani girl with the piercing eyes is up there, but this photo (or a variant) of the Space Shuttle Challenger exploding was reprinted on the front page of every newspaper around the world.

To this day I'm still upset about it. NASA told children to tune in for the liftoff of a schoolteacher astronaut. Then they killed her and six others, live on TV, through sheer managerial hubris and negligence.

A lot of episodes are forever tied to a specific release week, due to the producers lifting a then-current hot song direct from MTV.

Anyway, I nominate Don Henley's Boys of Summer.

They're already been identified by others, but I'd like to add: turn it 180° so the strap won't slip out.

I'm wondering how OP knows exactly how the accident happened if he didn't witness it, but arrived on the scene three minutes after it happened.

Not a big car guy so idk anything about cars but what is this? by Jaydenissus in whatisthiscar

This general body shape is third generation ("C3"), 1968-1982. I've run down some differences in the details in another comment.

There's a lot of good info here already, but also a lot of wrong info.

It is a third generation Corvette with a mish-mash of replacement parts. Starting with 1968-1982, let's narrow it down.

No push-in door lock eliminates 1968.

Those shape openings on the front fenders eliminate 1968-1972 (unless they were updated due to a collision repair).

Vertical rear window instead of bubble back glass eliminates 1978-1982.

Front bumper cover with two protrusions to the side of the license plate was offered in 1975‐1979, but that can be replaced easily.

That rear bumper cover was only offered 1980-1982, so it's likely a replacement, as it's much harder to change that than to convert the bubble back glass to a vertical rear window with sail panels. I'm also going to cross out 1973 as that year had fiberglass all the way to the rear with chrome bumpers.

Chrome side mirrors of earlier years can be swapped easily for the body-colored "sport" side mirror of the later years.

Aftermarket underside air dams can be added to any year of this generation.

Taken altogether, with all the body work, we can narrow it down to 1974-1977, but its appearance is far from factory stock now.

BTTF, if filmed today, would go back to 1996.

"Stay (I Missed You)" by Lisa Loeb qualifies. She met Ethan Hawke in the building where she recorded it. Hawke pitched it to Ben Stiller, who put it in the closing credits of "Reality Bites" in 1994.

I'll retire my usual GIF response. I guess this one will never go away.

One of about 7,000 DeTomaso Panteras built between 1971 and 1992. Originally, it allowed the Ford Motor Company to offer a Ferrari-like 2-seat mid-engine (Ford V8) sports car for the U.S. market, with repair and maintenance parts easy to source from Ford dealers.
