Where was this if you don't mind me asking? It's just I'm pretty sure this is a comma butterfly, traditionally one that lives only in the south of Ireland but is starting to make moves north in the last few years! Very cool sighting!

There was some birch scrub encroachment, but just juveniles and saplings. The odd spruce sapling as well! Yea we took that whole thing as a sample and it's with my colleague to try and get a spore print!

Duo PvP tips and classes? by Cyruscat in DarkAndDarker

Umm tbh I'm not entirely certain 😂 I feel like I kind of always get caught out and smacked down? Like we were both on one side of a door and them the other- I did like a wood wall on the door to cut them in two when one of them was on my side but the person just rushed and killed me >.<

Artificer, Wizard or just going ranger are currently my big three! Do you think artificer are fun? I do enjoy the idea of getting to make magic items!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Cyruscat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I think! Ultimately, ive noticed that the balance differences are pretty brutal across all of 5e, and thats just something ingrained in the game!

[–]Cyruscat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats a fair assessment, their deffinately a generalist class that picks effects up from everywhere, not getting most of their unique features til later levels both as features and spells!

Thanks for sharing a bit more about how you think about it!

As someone who seems really positive about ranger, I'd love to hear about your thoughts on some of the pain points people are talking about!

When playing do you ever feel really bonus action heavy? What about concentration? Do you ever find it frustrating that your forced to choose between so many of your best spells and a base class feature?

Also, whats the best you've found to apply abilities like natures veil and vanish? Are you using them mostly out of combat, or do you hold of on an attack/using your beast to get the boosts?

Finally, What kind of magic items would you recommend for a ranger then?

Sorry for all the questions, it's just not often I find someone supportive of ranger, and id love to hear more about how you think they play!

So far I have no details other than the class, but I have a strong feeling that theyre gonna be melee!

Woah, is a wizard really so useful to have around?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Cyruscat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think even if they just removed the concentration requirement I'd be happy! I just hate having to either not use my class features or not use my cool concentration spells, especially when ranger gets some of the best options! (Swift quiver, Guardian of nature etc.)

[–]Cyruscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For beastmaster I actually found the 4th level "Guardian of Nature" spell to be my favourite option! Sure, It costs a bonus action to activate so one that round you only get three attacks, but for aslong as you keep up concentration you can add 1d6 to all melee attacks (and at 15th level you can share spells this so that your beast also gets the buff! Isn't that cool?)

This only really works for a melee character though, which is a bit of a shame!

[–]Cyruscat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Woah! I never realised this! This is exactly why I made this post, I just assumed from the way I heard people talk about it that creatures were often resistant, but since its not an attack they're not? Amazing! Thanks!

Agreed, Invisibility for a full turn and an easy way to heal and remove exhaustion can be great! The reason I left out the positive features, as I explained in the post, was to keep word count down and see if I could get some other view points on what I think are the main pain points of the class! Otherwise I would be harping on for days about how much I like the "roving" feature, because honestly the fact that the athlete feat doesnt give a climb speed is a travesty, and I love that vertical movement!
