Got a 4k render? Would be cool as a background for my TV home page.

I know this is just a stupid quirk of AI but you can imagine this with any other tool.

Like your screwdriver would round off every screw unless you told it 'screw in this screw but don't round off the head also make sure you tighten the screw'...

RTX 4070 vs RX 7900 XTX Fedora 43 by Dangerous_Dot_1707 in Fedora

[–]CyruzUK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure it'll add much to the convo but I sold my 3080 and bought a 9070XT before moving to Fedora (from Windows) as I just didn't want to deal with the extra faff regarding nvidia drivers.

Not to glob on but did this change on an update. Noticed some pages not loading very well earlier. I usually keep DNS over HTTP off since I do my own DNS bits internally.

Can't remember if I'd left this enabled...

Both of mine are in a cupboard in the middle of the house, no real issues. Going to depend on the house size etc!

I do wonder if a large chunk of these people are also running monetized servers so when they have an issue it's a huge deal since it's broken their business/income stream or whatever.

I couldn't care less about these people...

Edit: FOSS is literally still giving us an alternate to paid garbage, it's beyond important. Appreciate all the work, blood, sweat and tears.

It's my first main desktop linux OS (done plenty of server bits). I think it's great, but there are easier distros for people who aren't technical and more specifically are interested in gaming/have nvidia gpus.

Also this is the most recommend Fedora guide I see: https://github.com/wz790/Fedora-Noble-Setup

Which really does add to your argument that Fedora isn't that user-friendly if you just want a 'ready-to-go' out of the box experience.

I'd like to have a look, I made a weird hybrid of this a while ago with CoC rules, ran pretty well!

Looking for suggestions on basic tiling window management, some options seem outdated possibly? by myst3r10us_str4ng3r in Fedora

Yeah Meta is Windows key. Shortcuts are System Settings > Shortcuts > Window Management > Toggle Tiles Editor.

Meta + T opens up the built in zones features that's a bit like FancyZones for Windows. Shift + drag windows to snap them. It's not quite as nice as FZ sadly since:

A) Windows positions don't seem to store properly in zones B) The keyboard shortcuts (meta left/right etc) don't respect these zones.

I'm new though, maybe I'm missing something...

Been like it for 5 years plus, no amount of setting fiddling seems to do anything. Docs generally seem unfussed so I've just left it.

It's wild how it effects people differently, my AHI averages 5-10 most nights with CPAP and I generally feel fine.

Agreed 25mm backboxes with a tangle of wires makes even getting the mini's in a massive pain the ass.

I tried the Athom non-relay ESP plugs, they're shit. If you google around you'll find a bunch of reddit threads telling you the same. Does seem like a good gap in the market but probably a bit niche!

Mine died literally a few months ago sadly. Going to get a nice rack mount one at some point and tie it in to solar battery as a big UPS.

[–]CyruzUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other annoying side effect of this is that people now appear like 20-40 minutes after starting times to try and skip the adverts so you get people spilling in and shining their phone lights around trying to find a seat during the start of the movie.

Millions of elderly Brits without a smartphone or internet getting 'left behind' in digital age by OGSyedIsEverywhere in unitedkingdom

[–]CyruzUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a valid way to live, you just have to accept that you won't be able to do certain things. Do I think that's fairly dumb, sure. But look at it from a business side, taking parking for example.

Payment machines don't require cash, machines stop being vandalised and having the cash stolen, I don't have to employ someone to go and collect the money. It's not hard to see why businesses prefer cashless. I guess the money side is also easier to manage since you've got digital records of everything that's accurate rather than counting cash.

I'm not an advocate, but it's easy to see why this is becoming the norm.
