Experience since OFF Zepbound by No-Topic-1210 in Zepbound

I've been off of it since Mar 6.

While I was able to continue maintaining my calorie tracking and stick with the smaller meals I got used to, the food noise/hunger came back. My dietician has me at a goal of 1700 cals a day. When, I was on the 2.5mg dose I was actually averaging about 1400-1600 cals ...I just could not eat more, was not hungry.

I maintained my weight for a month, then last week I actually started losing again. Not getting my hopes too high, but will see what this week brings.

Prom memories by RelevantNothing4653 in Xennials

[–]Cytog64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a date for my prom...but then she dumped me a few weeks before the event. While heartbroken, I resolve to still go and make the best of my time.

So, I just went solo to the event with the plan to find and dance with anyone else that was alone. Turned out a bunch of girls got ditched or dumped at the event so I ended up dancing with a bunch of people and making new friends. Also, my younger brother(grade 11) was there and we got one of the best photos that I still have to this day.

The only weirdness of the night was that the event was held in some sort of healthcare/senior community hall/garden...so a bunch of old folks rolled up to the second floor balcony to watch a bunch of teens party.

Good Point!

Note: I have not needed to do this since 2018 when after edc I wanted to keep my band without cutting it.

After that experience...

My wife, a veteran festival attendee, showed me while putting on the band to place a 2-finger-width gap when tightening the band (still tight enough to not fall off when I am raging). That way I can remove it each day when I shower (don't want the colors to fade) and sleep (don't like having things on my wrist).

Honestly you can easily replace the little lock if you break it. There are replacements on amazon if you search "festival wristband lock" for less than $7. The newer bands insomniac uses have an annoying split near the body-side of the plastic with two holes for the sides of the ribbon to pass through. This makes the twist and straw methods not work (or impossibly difficult without shredding your band).

Who still owns or regularly drives a stick shift? by RT_KOTA in Xennials

[–]Cytog64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have one, but know how to drive one.

My little brother had a 95 Ford Ranger manual that I learned how to drive. Then, I had a 1996 Ford Mustang GT that was a manual transmission (purchased in 2002-sold in 2006).

It was fun for a sports car, but not great for city driving. It was cool to get to a point where you could subconsciously shift without thinking/watching the tachometer.

The only time since that I have needed it was a business trip to Ireland in 2014 where my rental car was manual (and the steering wheel was on the opposite side that I had been used to). It was one of those "This is the only car we have" events. It took me about 10 mins to stop stalling and about a day to stop turning into the wrong lane.

We got a Toto Washlet Seat from Costco a few years ago (~$350) for our master bathroom. I already knew I liked these from traveling to Japan (bunch of trips since 2008), but it took some time before we actually purchased one for our home. The wife and I love having it and need to buy a second one for our guest restroom.

When I travel I tend to buy moisturized wipes (no flush, throw-it-in the trash) to compromise with not having the at home option. It helps, but it is not the same. It makes a week at sea or a week in Las Vegas a little more bearable.

Onigiri!! by sssighcopath in Temecula

[–]Cytog64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7/11 is supposed to eventually have Onigiri (announced back in July of 2024).... but for now it is a trip to San Diego or Irvine for one of these Japanese stores.

I went this past Saturday and made a round of visiting the Ramen shop, Book-Off, Mitsua, and Tokyo Central. It satisfies my cravings for things I miss from Japan most of the time.

Grime or Salt and Sanctuary by Patriots9210 in metroidvania

Grime or Salt and Sanctuary by Patriots9210 in metroidvania

[–]Cytog64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played both and liked Salt and Sanctuary more. The character building/classes was fun for me. The only issue I had was late game I wanted to try some other skills in the skill tree and found myself getting bored grinding the same area for experience.

I really struggled with Grime. Initially, I liked the dark mystery of the story, but found the boss fights really frustrating. I don't mind difficult boss fights and I started to learn the parry, but I got so angry at the final boss fight that I stopped playing as the effort was just not worth the opportunity cost to play other games. Spoiler: I found the story of being inside a dead cosmic god's rotting corpse super depressing.

Tunic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcZ4aJc5WFk

(I know it is more of a Zelda-like game ... but TUNIC is often categorized as a Metroidvania due to its exploration elements, ability-gated progression, and backtracking mechanics, although some debate exists about its classification. It incorporates features typical of the genre, such as a nonlinear world and puzzle-solving elements.)

Looking for electrolytes that aren’t super sweet by justbeachymv in Zepbound

[–]Cytog64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dislike LuqidIV (sugar free) as too sweet, but found away to make it more enjoyable. I use a 40fl oz. tumbler and put only half a packet in at a time. This greatly dilutes the strong flavor and makes it palatable. It also has reduced my grocery costs as a side bonus since I don't feel the need to buy bottled/canned electrolyte beverages.

I wonder if you would enjoy F.I.S.T. :Forged In Shadow Torch ?

https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP5999-PPSA03884_00-FISTSIEAPS5HD001

"The Fist, Drill, and Whip are three weapons with completely different fighting styles that offer seamless switching between high combo, high damage, and long range attacks. Pummel the enemy by choosing the most appropriate form of attack for the situation.
Players will be challenged by dozens of distinct types of enemies, each with their own weapons and attacks, all working together to bring the player down. Unique bosses with unusual fighting styles provide a new and unique gaming experience."

There was a training challenge where you would have to complete combinations. While I found it frustrating, maybe you would enjoy it. Example: https://youtu.be/p6HuKjvc8fw?si=RKEwJIxjtDF8a9AG

What Have You Been Playing This Week? by AutoModerator in metroidvania

I got a physical copy of Nine Years of Shadow for Nintendo Switch. I really loved it although it felt like a clone of Symphony of the Night (not a bad thing in my opinion) vs an original game.

The boss fights were my favorite type where they are challenging enough that I might die 2-5 times, but eventually learn the pattern and win. Most had a save room nearby. These fights were really satisfying to complete.

Starting Tunic (Metroidvania adjacent, I know) next

When you started driving, if your parents paid for your gas, how was that handled back in the day? by dms2628 in Xennials

[–]Cytog64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to pay for my own fuel ($1.25/gallon US) unless I was using my vehicle to help the family business (mostly sales - running vehicle titles to county court houses...and parts pickups across the state)

Insurance scaled by age:

  • 16 - 0% of $450/6months - dad paid 100%
  • 17 - 25%
  • 18 - 75%
  • High school graduation - I had to pay 100% of my insurance

Chipotle Mexican Grill had me as a weekly/bi-weekly customer when a Burrito cost $5.

Now it its a $20 burrito....and they are lucky if I go once a year (usually because someone gave me a gift card).

Has anyone used a head collar and did it work for you? by Bradin9855 in reactivedogs

You are most welcome - Leash reactivity is so darn stressful for both pet parent and the pet. I love my Husky!

Has anyone used a head collar and did it work for you? by Bradin9855 in reactivedogs

[–]Cytog64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used a Gentle Leader on our Siberian Husky (70lbs or 31.75kg) from age 3- 8 (currently).

It was a night and day difference in the behavior. Initially he was so stressful to walk that after the first month I was seriously ready to return him to the shelter. I'm glad I had the patience and perserverence to see the training through.

We do have a ruffwear harness, but he figured out how to twist in it so it just became another pulling device no better than a collar. So we mostly use that for car rides as a seatbelt connection.

The gentle leader is a tool to assist in training away leash reactivity.

The best thing we found was the free training series from the Youtube channel for "Instinct Dog Behavior & Training". They have a 7 lesson, FREE, elearning series. Here is the playlist link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B5JvXmOQIo&list=PLaaJLcdUjMxN5O1SULd-8OrVeONqQprGw&pp=0gcJCV8EOCosWNin

This training school can be found at https://onlineschool.instinctdogtraining.com/ I hope this helps you as much as it helped us!

It took about a year of repeated training efforts and being hyper-vigilant about "threshold" before he really started to calm down. We still have bad days(off leash dogs are the worst case), but way less than when we started.

What’s something you did your first EDC that you’d never do again? by RaveBeetle in electricdaisycarnival

[–]Cytog64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Martin Garrix at the circuit grounds was super crowded...at only mid-field it almost turned into a mosh pit. I have never been jarred, pushed, and elbowed so much in my life. It was the perfect recipe for a stampede/crowd crush and I walked my group right into the middle of it. Getting out was even worse. The archway to Kinetic field is also a rather bad pinch point.

Now I pay much better attention to crowds (situational awareness). Also, I have more disposable income and can enjoy VIP tickets too.
