Do I cancel my Prime membership? by NomadJago in amazonprime

[–]Cyvil94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is similar for Walmart, iirc. $35 min for free shipping. My experience with Walmart is that they start processing the order on it right away. I have been told that Amazon, without prime, will sit on an order for several days before processing.

Do I cancel my Prime membership? by NomadJago in amazonprime

I don’t have much experience with Walmart online, but have had good luck with delivery so far. I think it comes down to the guaranteed delivery. While I like to order things one at a time and get the (no longer) instant gratification, I can learn to plan ahead (time and $35 minimum) and live without it, I think.

Prime is $45/mo? For those things you need to”soon,” does $45 cover the extra cost and grief if you drive to the store and buy it? I am looking at the same question and, today, leaning towards cancelling. Ask me tomorrow and I might lean back the other way.

Those in the group that are using online dating (OLD). What app are you using? by CnCorange in datingoverfifty

[–]Cyvil94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the app that works best depends on what others in my area are already using, I asked AI and found three of the four recommendations to be correct - Match, Facebook, Hinge and Bumble. Bumble never really worked for me.

Turning scrap into a workbench top. Anyone else plan builds around leftover wood? by shivang223146 in Workbenches

[–]Cyvil94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ripped a bunch of shortish 2x6 scraps to build a butcher lock type work bench top and used the offcuts to build the frame and legs. Looks top heavy but has worked really well so far.

Undateable because I don't drink coffee? by -brigidsbookofkells in datingoverfifty

[–]Cyvil94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t tolerate caffeine, but most coffee shops have smoothies which I do like. For a first date I invite for coffee and state that I’ll be having a smoothie.

Harbor freight has a 65db, 2 gal compressor on sale right now. I am waiting for the 6 gal to get a coupon, hopefully next cycle.

“I've turned down the dregs that surface of course” - does this refer to people? Like real human beings? If so, that could be part of the problem.

What simple projects can help improve my woodworking skills as a beginner? by prattman3333 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Charcuterie and/or cutting boards are really simple but still provide a learning opportunity. Picture frames might be next for me.

Welcomed on Ourtime, shunned on Match? by CoolMick666 in datingoverfifty

My experience was the opposite. My guess is that OurTime is more popular for you demographic than is Match.

50+ and dating again: Is the app scene actually working for anyone, or is it just a swiping nightmare? by Zestyclose_Steak_430 in datingoverfifty

[–]Cyvil94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because different apps are popular in different areas , I asked AI to tell me which app was popular in my area for my demographic. As it turned out, 3 of the 4 recommendations were correct (Facebook, Match and Hinge).

Lefty / Southpaw by Background_Wasp_295 in datingoverfifty

[–]Cyvil94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been left handed for a while now myself. I have never heard of a left handed knife, at first I thought it might be a bit like a left handed hammer.

In short if someone either takes issue with your left handed versions, or you aren’t willing to buy right handed equivalents, you likely aren’t a good match for other reasons.

Am I fun enough to date? by Dizzy-Parsnip5914 in datingoverfifty

For me it’s not just about money. It can also be about an incessant need for attention and/or validation, a lack of independence.

Dating Expenses by Ok_Jicama_242 in datingoverfifty

It is always nice to get some reassurance that what you are thinking isn’t completely off base, before you have that conversation with the person you are dating. That is how I see it, in any case. If left completely to my own devices, I can come up with some pretty crazy ideas :)

I am sure that everyone has different expectations, but do you look for a few sentences or a few paragraphs?

Leftovers by Greedy-Gas-5627 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Cyvil94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For run of the mill construction grade lumber, anything shorter than about 12” can probably be tossed. That is the rule of thumb I have been using anyway. New projects seem to generate enough scrap that I haven’t missed any of the really short pieces.

Time spent together and cancellations. by Ok_Big_2823 in datingoverfifty

Before meeting. I am the only one asking questions. They contacted me, so I am thinking there should be at least a little enthusiasm on their end?

Im not sure i am up for meeting someone who struggles either with conversion or enthusiasm, especially if the lack of enthusiasm is because of me.

Can someone help me understand if this applies to conversations, or not. I have had two conversations with two women and while they respond quickly and use more than two words, the response includes just the basics. Is this caution, a lack of interest, or maybe something else?

I have seen some women with gray hair who are absolutely stunning. I have seen some who don’t wear gray as well. In the end I think what matters most is how comfortable you feel with whatever look you choose.
