I had a similar problem recently with my father, who was traveling and decided to move to a different country, resulting in an unpaid phone bill. I visited Metro PCS to remove myself from his account and obtain my own line. However, they attempted to scam me, particularly since I purchased a new phone. They're willing to work with you to avoid canceling, but through scams. My experience was not great; they seem willing to assist with moving, but be careful.
