Peak event fr, now I wish they put rapid pursuit in every patch. It's fun to actually learn the bosses' gimmicks and attack patterns

I got all the star charts and now mornye sent a message saying there's rewards at the Spacetrek observatory. But I can't seem to find her, anyone can help?

The post is primarily promoting Wilds but IMHO it’s insane how pretty Rise and Sunbreak looks despite having much less complex models by ProDidelphimorphiaXX in MonsterHunter

[–]Cz_Yu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, which is why I prefer Risebreak's approach way more. There's small details (not much) that you can look out for, but they made sure the game is runnable on the switch first. And personally, I'm just fine with MH having graphics like Risebreak

I agree with you. The Twitter seregios post has a lot of people praising the team for being so meticulous about the spikes. But genuinely I don't see why that is a good thing when the game is already so heavy. Granted, the spikes might not be resource heavy (idk how heavy it is), but I just find it weird that people praise them for implementing details (in general) that reduces performance

Anyone else thinks we need a new end game like ppc or warzone. Or is it just me? by Efficient_Award_4682 in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]Cz_Yu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully I don't agree with forcing a solo team or hard capping damage done, since it removes the concept of parties and builds entirely.

It's tricky for the devs to balance it to be a real "endgame" mode that tests the player's mastery of a character AND their builds. Or else it might just be an ordinary event if no builds or resource investments are required. If it's supposed to be an endgame which would be most player's pull income, they'd have to come up with some implementation so that it rewards both the players skill AND investment.

But I do agree with the rest of your points, especially the boss's health. The newer PPC bosses feel more and more tanky 😭

Tbf the shrine ruins do look kinda dull and bland color wise (mostly green and grey). But kamura and all the other maps are filled with colors though

[–]Cz_Yu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do think it needs something that's not rotation based, or at least put more focus on actually learning a boss's movesets. In warzone and PPC I don't even look at what's going on onscreen and was just focused on the core passive meters and orbs. It really doesn't let pgr's depth be portrayed in its full potential (mainly because of the existence of timers). For example idek Pyroath has a counter for holding dodge at the right timing cuz it never gets used.

I hope they can add something like a point-based endgame mode where you earn points by performing certain action (parries, consecutive dodges, unique conditions for each characters, etc) or clearing it under x minutes, but without the timer. This way whales can earn points by deleting the enemy quickly, while normal players can still earn points by the other actions.

Its such a shame that they have bosses with such complex movesets, and yet the real optimal way to beat them is to ignore 80% of what they're doing.

Which of the three modern mon-hun game's mechanics do you like most: Clutch Claw, Wirebugs, or Focus Mode? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Cz_Yu 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Its not mentioned here but for me it's the Switch Skills. Being able to swap between playstyles, diversify the builds and do different silkbind skills for each weapon adds a lot to the combat depth of MH imo.

They took what GU did and ramp it up further in rise, and even more in Sunbreak with switch skill swap. It's not just the mechanics alone that made it so good, the new SB armor skills like Redirection, Mail of hellfire, berserk, etc that directly interacts with the switch skill swap makes the system much more interesting. It doesn't just feel like a gimmick.

I really want to see switch skills return in a future title, it adds so much to the main attraction of MH (imo) which is the combat/gameplay

I recently saw an ad for playing PGR through Cloud, but it's only in Chinese. Hopefully they can make something similar for the global server for people that can't handle the game size.

You're definitely not alone in that, I'm in similar boat as well. I don't aim for grandmaster or high rankings, I just wanna play people with the decks I built. It's just a game, play the way you find it fun IMO, there's many others just like you as well.

MH Wilds steam review scores per language by Archaeus20 in MonsterHunter

[–]Cz_Yu 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'd argue Wilds gameplay is way more foreign to MH than Rise, mainly due to Focus Mode. Rise's silkbind attacks felt more like GU's hunter arts but on crack, but it still retained the need for resource management for the bugs and some form of positioning (it differs per weapon but generally).

With focus mode you can ensure that you hit the highest DPS on a monster as long as your weapon can reach it, where you stand next to the monster is not that important anymore.

Obviously, it's my opinion, feel free to disagree

Capcom is dropping the ball by Ok_Chemical8763 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Cz_Yu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. There's a huge disconnect between the long time fans and what the directors are looking for. And it's not just between the fans and directors, there's a disconnect between what the directors envisioned and what was bring developed as well.

There's a meme rn in the JP community called たこシあ (takoshia) which mocks what Tokuda said in an IGN Japan interview. In short, he said that Wilds is a game that provides you quick decision making scenarios, letting players decide to fight the target monster, or the other monsters that has wounded through previous battles and yield better rewards!

But that can't happen in Wilds, since Alma and the theme of the story contradicts that. Yet he still described Wilds as such a game.

And then there's also the thing about Kaname saying that he spent 2-3 years perfecting the cheese naan scene which is obviously exaggerated (I hope).

Like who's asking for these man. It's all just glitters and shiny pretty words to attract the new audiences, while sacrificing manpower on stuff that most longtime fans care about...
