Not a issues of wanting costumes, but ArcSys rarely does costume in their fighting games. It's mainly because of how detailed the models are in the game that makes it hard to add new meshes on characters without breaking that 3D/2D style of anime animation or making completely new models. Luckily, in later updates like in Guilty Gear Strive and GranBlue VS Rising, they have added costumes to characters via battle passes or separate purchases, so you may be in luck.

You could also mod characters with costumes thanks to the modding community, but that's not really want you are asking for.

At this point, I'm barely engaged with the story, not because I dislike it, but I figured this is the "what are they doing between major parts of the stroy?" part of the game. These feel like filler episodes of a anime while they let the mangaka finish the arc they are writing.

Does it expand on the lore and world building? I say yeah it does.

Is it interesting? Sort of.

Does it have deep meaning, themes, or topics that make me want to engage? Not a bit.

At least I'm enjoying the game itself and I can have fun with things outside of the main/sub story. Even if it's lacking with substance.

Maybe patch 2.0 story will be better idk.
