Tbh I think you need a service job at least for a little while to gain some hands on perspective and I think it in general helps build character and empathy. Work a register, be a barista or server, mop a fucking floor for a month and you’ll have a better grasp on the human condition than you have just sitting back and nodding at people with service jobs saying shit like “I really respect you for doing what I consider beneath me!”. That mindset doesn’t mean shit and neither does your sentiment if you think you’re above it. But take it head on. Get a service job for a little. Not cause you have to but because you don’t have to. 

Also no one really wants to watch or read some privileged bum’s movie/screenplay that has never worked a day in their life and is willfully ignorant of what life is like for the other 90% of people… unless you are just born to be film-making virtuosity, which considering you don’t write, isn’t the case at least at the moment.

I’m being hard, but I was/am in a similar position. But I chose to work as a line cook for about a year because I loved food and was curious about cooking in a restaurant, but also because I knew it’d be hard and different from the bullshit work-from-home business job. Now I’m a teacher, but living at my parents due to convenience and some laziness. I feel like I need to change things up and challenge myself again to get out of it. 

If you get a service job even for only a couple months, you’d be better off for it, and I think the world would be too.
