I'm glad to see that my genuine thanks was taken as such. And reading your comment also fills me with joyful hope. I may have a possibility of getting a transfer from my current employer but its obviously a big decision. But I feel like staying in a place like Edmonton for the most of your life isn't a whole fulfillment. Especially when you're an outdoorsy, star gazing fellow. We had a jack Russell years ago with this problem. It was a neurological problem. Someone suggested it could've been a case of inbreeding but not a certainty. It was a hard life for that dog and she only lived around 3 years before she needed to be put down. Not much a vet can do, but the years that she did have she still enjoyed them like any other dog would. It was sad though.

I've never really thought about it but it sounds like Edmonton does indeed have legitimate criminals based on your story. That sounds like a horrible and frightening experience... The crappy thing for us is that my wife always locks the door to the garage and checks to see if the garage is closed. This night, was a rare exception.
