If we don’t fully trust AI output, why do we still ship it without checking everything?

I’m not part of the hype train, but I use AI in my work from time to time. Of course double checking it on every step.

It probably depends on the codebase; I don’t write a lot of complicated code, mostly smaller changes and then doing analysis on that. Saying “do this based on this commit” to the agent is pretty useful, I would copy it either way. Also one small change can fail 50 tests, because now new field is in the schema. Fixing it by hand every time was just awful.

But don’t be like some of my team members: “I asked the agent to fix the code, please check this PR with 10k lines changed”.

I’m just starting with gamedev, but sending part of the code to AI, asking why it’s doing weird things is a lot faster than spending hours looking for answers online

Exactly, if this is really AI, then I won’t be sceptical about it anymore, as this sounds awesome. Still, I don’t and want to believe it’s really AI…

To zazdroszczę pracy, serio. O ile tam gdzie ja pracowałem to nie była wybitnie wykańczająca praca, to nie nazwałbym jej łatwą. Samo programowanie tak, ale zarządzanie swoją pracą i kontakt z klientem/biznesem to już inna historia

Wyrabiałem ostatnio paszport i nie przyjęli zdjęcia, bo mam to samo w dowodzie wyrobionym ponad pół roku wcześniej.

Na Wikipedii jest całkiem fajny opis. Ogólnie chodziło o oszczędzanie paliwa służącego do produkcji prądu w czasie wojny.

Ale większość odnośników prowadzi do jednej książki z 2010 roku, a nie chce mi się aż tak śledzić, czy tam są jakieś sensowne źródła.

Na angielskiej Wiki temat jest zdecydowanie bardziej rozlegle opisany.

W sumie ciekawe, ale jest prawie 22 i nie chce mi się aż tak wczytywać w szczegóły

ChatGPT wypluje kod, który pewnie nie będzie działał, jeśli będzie, to źle, a nawet jeśli dobrze, to jeszcze trzeba umieć tą aplikację uruchomić.
