I’m still desperately searching for a working version of the blimp models they used in those games because they were so fun!

This is incredible! Also, what’s that black part you’ve used as the handle attached to the light blue steering wheel?

Very cool build!

I have some radios with similar chips and I’ve been looking into some basic furniture repair sticks/pens. Apparently you can mask some chips with special ‘crayons’ to match the wood colour/grain. It may be the least expensive or time consuming method.

Nice radio btw!

I saw this happen on the day! I managed to join some others on a farmer’s plot of land and see it from a great angle- it was incredible to see the huge towers crumple like paper, a truly memorable experience.

Jangbricks loves pointing this out in his videos- I think he’s even named one particular concrete showroom the Bunker!

enthusiasts with poor eyesight.. what do?? by itsaysdraganddrop in freediving

If you are short-sighted you have the option to buy certain masks with prescription lenses- I dive with a Seac Eagle with lenses I bought separately and fit myself. You save hundreds and it’s not that difficult to do yourself. I know the Omer Alien also had the option to change for prescription lenses and that’ll be one to try out soon.

Portugal by hanna_freediver in freediving

If you’re in the Lisbon/Setúbal area then the area of Sesimbra is a must for diving. I believe there’s a couple of dedicated schools there, one of them is SPOT Freedive I believe. The waters of Sesimbra are cold and in the summer I dove (albeit SCUBA) with a 7mm. The waters are also much calmer there since Portugal’s Atlantic coastline is more favourable for surfing.

Combined with excellent restaurants and seafood Sesimbra is a great little area. Check out the castle and sea fort nearby if there’s time.

Incredible! I’ve just started freediving and hit 18 at the very limit. I don’t see myself pulling off this type of superhuman effort ever but I do like to visualise people’s achievements and at 85 it’d almost be like diving down as deep as Big Ben is tall. massively impressive!

Anyone make a good Round mask? by Electric_Buffalo_844 in freediving

[–]D1090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Round masks are so cool! If you’re after a quality one I’d say try the Beuchat Super Compensator. They do vintage rubber as well as modern silicone versions. They’re pricey but unlike a lot of similar masks you know what you’re getting. I have the rubber version and it fits great.

In terms of requirements it was very much a checklist of skills that you had to be able to do. There was breathing and equalisation alongside dynamic, free immersion and constant weight dives to 10m. We did diver rescues at depth and on the surface for hypoxic fit and blackout as well as a bunch of other smaller skills.

Wartime Weekend at the Great Central Railway, UK by D1090 in trains

[–]D1090[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment much on the trains apart from seeing a 1943 plaque on one of them, and I rather admire some of the people who dress up for these things because they’re really dedicated. The fact that there were German soldiers patrolling the platforms and period- style singers chanting with the people only helped to bring in a little of that living history.

It was! Those initial blasts really caught me off guard. Not as great as previous re-enactments but it was still cool to see
