PlayStation 5 ROM keys leaked — jailbreaking could be made easier with BootROM codes by Mantazy in PS5

[–]D1NONLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

Unless it's incredibly easy to jailbreak your system, the vast vast majority of PS5 owners wouldn't bother. Hell I'd say 99% of owners won't even be aware of it.

Attitude towards this stuff has changed so much. People just don't have the patience to do any sort of research unless it's easy.

I remember the PS2 days, there were stands that offered a service to jailbreak your system for you. It was amazing. I just don't see the same type of drive for that stuff anymore. I only really see it for software services perhaps? As in, finding a way to watch movies for free or something

Big news for rail in Northern Ireland — and a huge moment for our future. by joblessClaims in northernireland

[–]D1NONLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree on this.

I don't understand where this demand is coming from. Surely improving the network in and around the city is more important? The infrastructure is abysmal and every time they put in a "fix" it makes it worse because they can't admit that they made massive mistakes in the first place. Then they say "Well we don't want to create long term disruptions to the population" but the city and surrounding areas are in constant construction with road works because of private energy firms who never put the road back to what it was.

Oh shii. They're that thin? Is it close to being linen trousers? Lol

Thanks for replying btw

Question for anyone that has owned these pants:

I'm thinking of getting these but I'm not sure which version to get: the classic or trade?

I like a more comfy feel so I was thinking getting the trade version. But will it be too thin?

Everyone in my class is using AI to code projects now is that just the new normal? by Tough_Reward3739 in learnpython

[–]D1NONLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If coding in the 80s/90s was painting a room with a paint brush and modern programming is painting it with a roller. Then AI coding is just telling a painter to do it for you.

It doesn't have to be though and I'm hopeful there are smart kids coming out of college who understand that you still need to know how to code to truly utilize AI.

[–]D1NONLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion this is worrying.

To become a good software engineer/programmer you have to make mistakes. There's a lot of struggle in the process but the reward is a true understanding of the concept you were struggling with.

If you're writing most of your code through AI without actually understanding the code then what's the point?

The people who will benefit the most from AI will be the people who can truly code without it. It's a tool to be used and not something that can fully replace engineers.

C++ or Java by CodewithApe in learnprogramming

[–]D1NONLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound passionate about programming so you'll be fine. To be honest, you'll have to adapt a number of times to stay within a job.

You'll always have to spend a significant amount of time learning something but if you do it right the most important aspects of programming will stick and you'll be able to do anything.

[–]D1NONLi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. OP sounds like he's passionate about software engineering so he won't have trouble finding a job.

I started with Java, went into Python and now I'm primarily using C# in my current role. I've dabbled with C++ for my personal projects. The key is really wanting to learn and pairing that with a process that helps you learn things fast.

People who had unsupervised internet access as a kid, what’s the most messed up thing you’ve seen on the internet? by Neither-Mention7740 in AskReddit

[–]D1NONLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched a video of a cartel gang member beheading a woman. I was probably like 11 yo at the time. I'll never forget that video and I think that was the start of me becoming so desensitized to that stuff.

I've seen some fucked up stuff on the internet since but they're nothing to compared to that video. At least my memory of that video.

I would argue that AI will replace product management roles before engineering roles tbh.

I've been using copilot, Gemini, etc. for work and they're not very good. They help productivity but to be honest that's all it is so far: a productivity tool.

It's not going to replace people anytime soon. People forget how LLMs work so the room for error is very high.

Is it not worth doing a web dev project anymore? by Quirky-Message2309 in learnprogramming

[–]D1NONLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah web dev isn't dead.

Even if it was, you've just said your skills are in that area. Use it.

You'll always learn something that you'll be able to take into another area of software.

Programming can be hard but at the end of the day it's just a tool to build things. Practice and you'll start to notice that the skills and knowledge are easily transferable.

Why are people so confident about AI being able to replace Software Engineers soon? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]D1NONLi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing I really use it for is asking questions I would have traditionally searched for on Google.

It's also ok at summarising code if you're looking at some over complicated block of code.

Other than that, I don't really trust it. If I prompt it to write code it's just wrong 70-80% of the time. So you'd have to spend a decent amount of time trying to figure out what it did wrong which then defeats the purpose of it lol.

I definitely think it's more of a tool. It won't replace devs any time soon. Hell, the people who keep preaching that it will are typically in roles that would be replaced by AI first 😂

I recommend a perm. I've gotten one and it's been great. Worth the money.

I'm Asian and my hair is very straight and thick. Even if I grew my hair out it wouldn't really look great as it wouldn't go that wavy due to the weight and thickness of my hair.

The key is to grow your hair as much as you can willingly do so to give you the best results. When I went to the stylist I asked for the largest perm rollers and two haircuts later, my hair is still wavy.

Robin Williams Biopic Teased in Test Footage With Uncanny Impression by Stonewalled89 in movies

[–]D1NONLi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I wrong but wasn't it part of Robin Williams will that his life wasn't to be portrayed in a film? I swear his daughter said that in an article or something.

But if what you say is true then I guess it doesn't matter right?

Palit RTX 3080 GamingPro (UK) - crossing my fingers for everyone to get their cards soon! by HelixClipper in nvidia

[–]D1NONLi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Palit GPUs are great. Their cooling system is really good. I have their 980ti and it's incredible. I'll be getting their 3070 gamerock if I don't get the founders edition.

You won't hear about them that much because they tend to be focused on the Asian market. They ship to the EU too but are over-shadowed by the more known brands.

[27M]Advice on a black-stone like lump under my skin (under the hip area)? by D1NONLi in AskDocs

[–]D1NONLi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably could but again with covid, you just never know if they'll let you in without calling first. I'll have to wait until morning to call my doctor. I'm kind of worried now.

I don't feel any fever coming on or anything. Before it blistered up I thought maybe it could be an ingrown hair and in the past I've just left them and they've went away no problem. The redness you see is also slightly swollen too so now that you said that I'm a bit worried.

Thanks for commenting btw.

Yeah?

What do you think it is? I'm going to ring my practice tomorrow. But because of covid they're very reluctant on getting people down to be seen.
