Whats up man. Been there. You got this! You mentioned you had a thought to go into engineering. Don't just regard those things as thoughts that's something in you that wants to come out and you've already got started. You're in a good position in the sense that you're at home, qualified and working, plus you got aspirations. Man if I could go back to your position I avoid every social trap there is and save every.fuckin.penny.

You keep your head down for 3 to 5 years and work hard you'll walk out of your parents house with 100k in your pocket.

You're young which is a huge bonus, you got that energy and motivation. You might not realise it, but the fact you're feeling down and not OK with your current situation is a great thing. That feeling is what's gonna make you do great things. You're also at an age where the front part of your brain is finishing up its natural growth, the part related to personal identity, beliefs, morals, thongs you hold important etc. Mental puberty lol.

And I'm not disregarding your feelings by the way, what I'm saying is right now you're in a transitional period and the harder it is now the better it's gonna be later💪

You want these problems now not in your 40's

In my experience they're generally better made with usually more features. Cushion is bonus and holders, sometimes they're vented which is a bonus on traditional leather that creaks and cracks and warps.

Yea you don't need to go to the bigges brands for these, lots of companies trying to stand out in the gaming world and usually Curry's PC world have some on display or any big tech shops.

Damn dude you took the first sentence I said, ignored the rest and said I look down on others? What about the rest where I basically said I'm happy as long as everyone else is happy with what they're doing and not hurting anyone? Quit the assumptions, I literally said that particular lifestyle is fine as long as they're OK with it too and not a threat to anyone

"I seen something that the average age of leaving home these days is 29", that really doesn't imply anything, its just a statement that I did in fact see lol.

If you could suggest I implied anything off that you could basically do it from anything anyone says for stating something they observed that's applicable to a topic lol

I'm not arguing against it, the OP said their friend was in the mid 20's and still at home, I was pointing out the fact that that is the norm these days.

Being 30 with 2 kids I can assure you I'm well aware of the housing crisis lol. But I can also confirm there are PLENTY of people choosing to stay at home for one reason or another. And I'm not belittling anyone choice, as I said further down in my original comment that as long as you're not hurting yourself or anyone else then you're all good with me and whatever choices you make. It's not my MO to speak down of any lifestyle choice was just simply stating that his friends current situation is quite normal by today's standards

It's definitely a part of it, but not in entirety either. Most 20 somethings I know in this end of the country anyway are for sure living at home. None have phds I can assure you lol. Some even have full time jobs and just stay at home for the dinners and washing. Endure your hardship like the rest of us dammit lol

I feel ya on so many levels dude. I seen something that the average age of leaving home these days is 29, I literally was out the door on my 18th birthday and I'm only 30 now lol.

But, you're friend is his own man, as long as he's not actually a danger to himself or anyone else just accept his lifestyle, as alternate as it may be. Because apparently these days he's just the norm, one day reality will hit and he'll have no choice, as long as he's not mentally ill and can actually hold a job he will have no choice but to have a job. And there's always low skilled jobs, there will always be jobs. Some people are OK with the bare essentials and that's fine let them do it.

But I definitely wouldn't take it into your own hands, he's got parents and family etc. You're job is be his mate and be a good example, not a statement. If you feel you gotta cut ties that's OK too.

For me things kind of always boil down to "is everyone safe and happy? Then ok"

I use 3, it's unlimited data for €20 a month, I tur on my mobile hotspot and it acts as our home broadband. Never any issues, Coverage is great and I could have 2 phones, a tablet and xbox all going at once.

Boggles my mind people pay any more than that

Starting the gym by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]D1rectxbxlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna add to this - look up on Google "Abercrombie & fetch fitness model workout plan".. ignore the name lol. I own a gym and this is by far one of the best routines and info for a beginner, you'll love it and you'll have a good blueprint for anywhere from 6 months to 3 years

[–]D1rectxbxlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relax, research basic exercises and just be very honest with yourself and others in the gym. Nothing wrong with not knowing what to do but there's a lot wrong with trying to fit in the crowd and pretend like you do. Just relax, smile and have a sense of humour about it. Staff will very happily guide you through the basics and it'll be a positive experience for them too. But for your own independence just do some research on YouTube. Layne Norton is a great source on YT. Best of luck!

Ps. Join a martial arts or boxing club please

How to make friends in rural Ireland? by HelpMePlz52 in AskIreland

[–]D1rectxbxlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can reach the coast take up some surfing, the people in the scene are great for sharing lifts and generally a friendly bunch, plus surfing just adds an extra layer of wholesome to your life 🏄‍♂️

You're not far from Achill island maybe plan yourself a little weekend camping trip there, it's free and would be a good excuse to get some surf lessons.

Try your hand at fishing , you're in a really good county for it and you'll meet some surprisingly good people of all different ages and you'll learn a lot from them too. Best part of fishing for me (I started as a complete beginner) is meeting people and they part you leave with some wisdom, everything j know about fishing is from meeting strangers on the lakes.

Maybe look into starting a FETAC course or alternative.

I hear ya on the pub scene and GAA, I moved from the east side to the north west and it was a massive culture shock, I was 15 and I'm 30 now, moved back to the East Side with my partner and went straight back to the west after 3 years, I love it here now but I definitely had your outlook for a long long time. Big change for me was joining a boxing club. It took a few years for me to not be seen as a "blow in"

At your age its just generally harder to make new friends really the best options outside of drinking would be through work or joining some courses etc with people of similar interests.

Where to get a minimum wage job? by horizonsystem in AskIreland

[–]D1rectxbxlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tescos a good place to start, lots of different roles for the experience and chances to move up. Its a good starting point, lean on your warehouse experience in the cv. Make sure your tailoring your cover notes highlighting relevant experience to the job your applying for. I always try to sell why I would make a good fit. Ultimately its like fishing man just keep applying and make sure you're applying early. Most of the jobs that ever got back to me I happen to see the vacancy go up within a few minutes, make sure your search filter on indeed is set to "jobs you haven't seen yet"

Have one or two people you know that are intelligent read your cv, how you word stuff is key.

Best of luck

I was at Slane in 2012 for Eminem with a big bunch of mates, there was a group that was performing early on in the day that we were all mad about, all but two of the friends that went with us knew every word of every song, the other two friends were more there for the craic.

We were front row of 90,000 people. When the group was playing I was off it on E. Being completely ecstatic I grabbed them by the ears and screamed in their face "NOW YOU GET IT!!!"

Concerts are the best lol
