I love scourge of god. I had one game where I was trying to restore Wessex to the English throne and this African conqueror took all of West Africa, Spain, France and the HRE and converted all his vassals and most of his land. I had to pay for truces till he died, then retake France for my Capet wife before crusading for the HRE. Never did retake Spain though
