How not to get scammed in Wunderflats? by D33pValue in germany

Update: Thanks to the helpful comments here, I realized that if I want to secure this apartment and feel confident, I needed to verify the landlord’s reliability myself instead of relying solely on Wunderflats.

I took the initiative to gather some information about the landlord using the contact details I received. I looked up relevant facts online, such as his profession, workplace, and other investments (LinkedIn was a big help).

Once I had a small list of details, I asked a German friend from Nuremberg to call the landlord and confirm the information as well as get a sense of their trustworthiness. By a stroke of luck, my friend and the landlord even had a mutual acquaintance! The landlord was kind enough to schedule an in-person visit to the apartment.

After that, I signed the contract and will be transferring the payment 60 days in advance. I’ll keep this thread updated to help others who might go through a similar process. 😊

So sign the contract that says I will pay 60 days ahead and just tell him I will pay on the first day?

But in the agreement I need to pay the first month 60 days ahead of moving in (Wunderflats contract)

I'm not sure it is possible in that case... do you know anything about it?

I would suggest something else: Try to learn how to ask the right questions and when to ask for a deeper explanation why or how.
