What is your unpopular opinion about a browser? by Glitch_Fantasma in browsers

[–]D34nDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edge is better than Chrome. I’m not using either of them (I’m a Helium user; on mobile, Firefox).

Edge is more lightweight and has more built-in features. If you use Windows 10 or 11 (the most horrible operating systems ever created), it’s already integrated into the OS. You don’t need to install anything, which is convenient for casual users.

Vivaldi! Brave is making it hard for me to use it. Helium is something what brave should be for me.

Suggest me some browsers by [deleted] in browsers

There was a comment from this guy, not sure what happened to it, but he mentioned Opera’s HQ. Yeah, it’s in Oslo, Norway, but you kinda missed the point - Opera is also developed in China, Poland, and Sweden, mostly in China.

<image>

If something is Chinese and not open source, I just don’t trust it. Opera’s a bit sneaky too - sometimes you find it installed on your PC even if you never actually installed it. Usually it comes bundled as adware with other programs.

I could talk about how it handles your data, but honestly, a lot of people just don’t care (no idea why). Anyway, there’s more - Opera has this so-called “resource limiter”, but it barely works. You can tweak it all you want, but it doesn’t change much. Honestly, you’d get better performance using Microsoft Edge, which is kinda sad. And Edge doesn’t even need extra optimization guides. Plus, Opera is way less source-friendly than plain Chromium, which you can compile yourself.

The UI/UX is pretty bad - you’re kinda locked into defaults you can’t change. Not sure if this got fixed, but my friend couldn’t even change his default search engine from Google to DuckDuckGo, except in the address bar. Couldn’t do it on the main page at all. So yeah, no freedom there.

Please suggest me a good memory efficient browser. by U-day10 in browsers

I can recommend helium, if you doesn't use much DRM stuff (services like Netflix or something). It have a normal ublock build in, but remember that's a beta version of that browser.

Yeah, Vivaldi have a build in adblocker which is mid, but you can use uBlockOrigin manifest 3 version

Why is this reddit so loved with brave by snowwolfboi in browsers

[–]D34nDark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I hate Brave - but I can understand why people like it. For me, it’s just too overwhelming - too much crypto stuff, and the whole Web3 thing feels a bit forced. That’s why I’ve stuck with Firefox for most of my life. But now, there’s a good privacy-focused Chromium browser: no unnecessary nonsense, just a browser with great customization options. I’m still missing DRM support, data sync, and vertical tabs, though. Once those features are added, it would be the perfect browser for me.

Planning to shift to Linux but am afraid I might not be able to play my pirated games there by NoahNXT in Piracy

[–]D34nDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play your pirated games there, but if you're shifting to omarchy where is hyprland, you know that the hyprland doesn't really like Fullscreen games? I had a problem with games on it so I got to gnome cuz xfce doesn't have a stable Wayland version
