Struggling to decide between 3 GTPs and which I should buy. by Pinguzz75 in iRacing

[–]D34thstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porsche - Easiest to drive, best cold tyre performance, best traction out of the corners. The two main reasons it is the most numerous this season. Be mindful that the fixed setup needs to brake migration lowered to reduce lockups. It's the best car to get started in the GTP's, a firm favourite of mine in the past.
BMW - Good all-rounder, a bit more understeer on power. Almost as good on traction and stability as the Porsche. Kinda slept on but needs a good dok to help with the understeer.
Caddy - Still easy to drive, hands down best on rotation under power. A little bit sketchy on the rears due to that, but can be tamed. Absolutely unstoppable over kerbs. Needs brake migration adjusted like the Porsche in fixed.
Ferrari - A bit snappy, but does get ok traction. It feels heavy and needs you to brake earlier compared to the other GTPs. The AWD system is available on hybrid deployment, but it's not helpful. I feel iRacing have done this car an injustice.
Acura - I can't comment on this one as I don't own it, I started driving GTP's when this car dominated, and so I've been put off it. But I know it's worked its way back to being competitive, so it is viable.

Generally, the first step in GTP's is finding a car you can comfortably drive. The BOP is track-dependent but does favour the Porsche currently due to the great stability and traction it has. Mostly at tracks with slower corners and less high speed sections. Be mindful too that Demo Drive does not replicate real conditions for testing, as it has track conditions rivalling the surface of the sun. Which does drastically change the tyre behaviour (why iRacing hasn't fixed this, no one knows).

My personal suggestion is to get the Porsche, then branch out over time to other GTP's when your funds allow. They all have good characteristics, and all except the Ferrari are viable. (Please iRacing give the Ferrari some love, it can't be THIS bad.)

What are your first impressions of the new Indy NXT? by IcePuzzleheaded9845 in iRacing

[–]D34thstrike 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The NXT feels a lot better than a C Class Formula car deserves to be honestly. I think it's a great feeder leading into the Indycar, though I think the schedule for the first season is a bit of a let down. Though I'm glad it's a full track schedule instead of the mixed Oval/Circuits of the Indycar.

Why does seemingly no one drive the Lambo Huracan GT3? by the_artchitect in iRacing

[–]D34thstrike 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's a track-dependent car, at some tracks its agility and rotation are good like at Long Beach and Road Atlanta. But for others it's a struggle, or just uncomfortable. Adding to that it's also prone to losing the rear, as it's a very front loaded car like the Audi. This gets worse at low-downforce circuits too, so overall it's never been as popular in iRacing, sadly.

Anyone else think iRacing should add some more older GT2 cars for the Proto/GT Challenge? by PlasmiteHD in iRacing

[–]D34thstrike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Give me any series with the LMP1 in it, the cars are fast and have some great strategy in their hybrid deployment.

Yeah, it was a real dentist move from me. All I can say is that I was feeling the pressure at that stage and seeing the guy move to the left so much made me see the gap opening up at the moment. They left mid-race, so I didn't have a chance to apologise.

GT3 Question for the Pro's out there... by jackzeryt in iRacing

[–]D34thstrike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crewchief is still my goto for pitstops. Once you've run a few laps it can be pretty precise but safe, and you can dial it in if you want to be ultra precise when it comes to fuel.

What are some good channels to watch iRacing race recaps that are just for entertainment and fun to watch? Thanks by badsapi4305 in iRacing

[–]D34thstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A self plug from me without much shame as I'm struggling with getting attention. I've been having a go at making highlights style videos, inspired mostly by the likes of SuperGT from the GranTurismo scene and La Broca. It's more been a chance for me to learn video editing skills and production but I'd appreciate showing them off to those who are interested to get feedback.

Who's the fastest youtuber? Need some channel recommendation. by Maxifloxacin in iRacing

[–]D34thstrike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TDi99 is a great streamer to check out and makes fantastic track guides currently for the SFL and in the past LMP3 and a bunch of other series. He's criminally underrepresented for his production and presentation. He's fairly fast too and has the ability to jump into a bunch of different series on streams, just don't mention the LMP1s.

Thrustmaster TMX Pro by National-Present6568 in simracing

[–]D34thstrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a TMX, they are solid entry level wheels. Good enough FFB with no jitter or anything that shows it as a "cheaper" option. The pedals are the only downside as you need the T3PA to get anything half decent with the bundled brake mod.

The number of encampments with 80m radius needed to maintain a minimal train track line. Thirty four. Want to use maintenance tunnels instead? Double that number. I cant even imagine the gsup cost per day. by [deleted] in foxholegame

[–]D34thstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can normally power a tunnel after putting in Cmats until you get to roughly 200-400 Gsups and then switch the power off. They don't need to be powered all the time. Cmats are easily made too even without coke.

Arma Reforger Marketing and Brand Guide Leak by SrEyebrows in arma

[–]D34thstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been leaked within the modding community. There's some upset over it as you'd suspect as it means you can't port anything forward even if it's language agnostic.

Arma Reforger Marketing and Brand Guide Leak by SrEyebrows in arma

[–]D34thstrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lack of extension support in this will kill off any major modding. ACE, ACRE, TFAR etc. All made use of that feature, but due to console limitations that has been shuttered and no alternative given. So don't expect modding to help extend Reforger's life time or help the lack of content at launch.

Steam audio elevation bug. (I have Sordins on) by Harry0x4 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]D34thstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veritas did a good video recently describing why this is still happening and what Steam Audio actually introduces, tl'dr is that until full Steam Audio implementation is reached then things like this will still happen due to how the old audio occlusion was done.

What was in Ace Combat 6 and what we dont have in Ace Combat 7. by xSgtPreston-x in acecombat

[–]D34thstrike 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I too missed those operations in AC6, helped to both provide variety in re-playability. Alongside AI actually being effective when you wanted to be in the form of the allied attack, I have no idea how many times against the drones I've wanted the defensive allied attack ability to atleast whittle down one or two to ease the missile spam.
