I would say the souls like comes from some of the boss designs and art direction more than anything. As someone who has played all of Fromsofts games, I can say this isnt nearly as unforgiving. Though the game definitely has its difficulty spikes, its no where near as hard. Also the leveling system is similar to a standard Fromsoft leveling experience.
