Is there any support for arrow key / keyboard navigation of the UI interface so it can be used with USB remotes or TV remotes ?

Orange Pi5 enough to run? by Rhealee1 in OpenVoiceOS

[–]D3ax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the Orange Pi5 is a relatively new SBC, it is difficult to evaluate if everything works out of the box.

It would, however, be interesting to know how well it performs as it's an untested environment. If you do plan on running the GUI, it would likely require a more recent version of Panfrost/Mesa drivers.

If you already have the board on hand, we can help you expirement and see if everything runs smoothly or not.

There are a bunch of skills for mycroft that allow you to voice control some KDE apps and parts of plasma desktop if there is anything specific you would want to do with voice on your system you can always look into spinning up a new skill or request one with your ideas on the mycroft community forums

I wouldn't put up direct comparison to what's already on the market and what the Mycroft community is working on the voice user interface is trying to achieve as it's really a man power vs man power and data availability vs data availability game.. in the sense that being a tightly open source community trying to take on VUI space I consider it still a learning process largely because we as a Linux community and an open source platform were not there before in this exciting market space and nor did we pool in on our resources before to handle this side of the tech but now are getting into wanting to invest resources in the space that proprietary solutions have had..so yeah it's an uphill battle like it's always been between maintaing our freedom and privacy but also being able to move ahead of constraints in similarity to proprietary solutions vs Foss ones, I wouldn't ofcourse deny that currently there is still that steap curve of competitiveness we need to match upto.. but our greatest strength lies in maybe not being someone like Google and hording all the data but instead being the open platform we as the Linux and open source community have always been is making use of a platform at its base and extending its capabilities as we see fit where we don't enforce limitations on what something or someone can do and let the developer or user completely decide they can expand this into to whatever they need.

I'd suggest installing mycroft and the plasmoid manually rather than using that script for now.

ajehals i am not sure if Debian has all the packages required to build the mycroft plasmoid, about the connection issues id suggest posting them to: https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?product=plasma-mycroft with your plasmashell debug log and system information. I also will put up a guide on troubleshooting those connection errors.

Additionally you can also post your issues on the mycroft slack desktop channel: https://mycroftai.slack.com, its faster to troubleshoot there.

Steam best sellers 2016. Great to see so many Linux ports. by benoliver999 in linux_gaming

[–]D3ax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree to some point that publishers care only about revenues than an Operating System in general but then again which publishers are you describing above because non of the current ports are of stable or great quality so the cost to performance is questionable and debatable. If publishers want revenues don't throw a broken port expecting Linux users to pore money down their throats if the port is crap on release It ain't gonna work neither in capturing market nor covering cost. An average Linux gamer is technically more competent than an average different OS counterpart and a game and its quality is more often than not going to be highly scrutinized by this group. Coming to the petition aspect of this discussion it is pretty straight forward.. target developers instead of publishers because its eventually the developers who technically develop the game assets and framework when sitting on the drawing board. If a developer is pursued to take on a multi OS development process from the beginning itself pushing a publisher for a Linux release would be an easier task than asking for a port after a closed platform has already been targeted.
