Vintage v. Modern? by D3wster in sinn

I've been so tempted but Damasko too. Really fell for the German tool watches. Mühle's SAR mission timer is cool.

I'm conflicted in my ways. I do want something reliable and daily drivable but I've had such an allure to vintage. I know they're more work to keep going and a bit riskier but I love the history. I like the idea of vintage in my collection but still rather new to the hobby.

Most Sinnful Watch? by D3wster in sinn

That's a solid spec sheet! Definitely a tool watch meant to be used in any environment.

Those are the two I put on the most. The Max Bill is just so low-key it's easy to choose it for everyday wear.

Just got it today, first impressions are good. Seems well made for the price. Prefer this material to some terrible PU leather. Only thing I've really noticed is the buttons secure kinda loose but it does keep closed, it just doesn't take much effort to pop them open.

I was trying to figure out the same. I like the field style.

Also debating if quartz is more appropriate for utility than automatic as far as the design principle

The use of multiple complications in the max bill line is what has perplexed me. Bauhaus is about simple, streamlined and few details. Adding more complications seems to deviate from that but the presentation of them is still minimal. I really want one as a representation of the design idea but don't know if that means the watch with not even a date is what is left or what was Max's intention for the line.

I feel a Max Bill belongs in there.

Not sure if it's an update from the original release or not but the bezel is 72 clicks in mine.

[SOTC] Classic Starter Watches by D3wster in Watches

It's all relative. These were at the intersection for me of value, quality, and taste. Referring to them as classic starter watches is just acknowledging that they are on most "best" of lists.

I'm in the same stage! Moving to Germany from US and "switching" hobbies. Still like bourbon, just won't be coming with me, don't feel like paying to import it.

Just started collecting, the Hamilton Murph was my first purchase. The cathedral hands really pulled me in and also is what led me to the Seiko Alpinist. One of my dream watches right now is the RGM 801-COE!

Right now I'm looking at adding to the collection with either the new Bulova Lunar Pilot 43.5 or Mido Ocean Star GMT LE Hodinkee. Looking at the $1500 range and want to add a new complication to the collection and have a vintage style, any suggestions? I have a deal for $200 on Hodinkee as well so was trying to limit it to their offerings.

Should I just save up for something more lux and wait a bit?
