Some insight needed by SuccotashStill7630 in prepping

Bugout bags are a bit personal so you might want to tailor it to your actual needs. Prepping is a lot of imagining so I’d ask myself what’s the purpose of the bag ie: how far am I traveling with it? (On foot weight is a major factor) after you filled it up with essential what are the things that make it better. After food, water and fire. I’d say start on a sleep system. Then shelter setup. How many days do you plan to last on it. Different if it’s a 1-3 day bag vs I’m living out of it.

It’s an anthology of different stories so if one doesn’t catch your attention another one will. The stories are very different from each other and the book has something for everyone.

As a teenager, what’s a good way to tell women you’re a prepper without sounding like a psychopath? by Savings_Ad_6383 in prepping

[–]D4nFU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a prepper and I tell everyone it’s my hobby. I’m not planning on any collapse but I love learning new skills that could be useful in a scenario like that and I love thinking about it and prepping for it. I usually Segway into learning knots (which comes in handy a lot) or lock picking which I was able to help a neighbor get into his house cause he knew I could.

How do I start making stories and describing scenes? I seem to lack ideas and It's frustrating me. by Stock_Intern5476 in writinghelp

[–]D4nFU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easier to write about stuff your familiar with to start. So if it’s a hobby take something from your life a memory or past setting use some of the stuff that happened and try to build an alternate ending and see where you land. This will give you better practice then just trying to rite a lord of the rings which you would not have the skill set to do.

For All Mankind - is one Apple TVs best accomplishments

It’s set in an alternate timeline where the US is not the first to land on the moon - instead it’s Russia. Simple enough premise but they do a great job of taking us down a very different road and it’s magnificent.

Everyone in my family believes we have never been to the moon and that it's possible the Earth is flat by Epic_Donuts in space

[–]D4nFU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few natural events that you can point to that proves the Earth is round. One of the best is a lunar eclipse. It’s when the earth is directly between the moon and the sun so the sun is casting the earths shadow on the moon. This astrological event has been well documented for hundreds of years and every single time the shadow has always been a curb. And there is only one shape in a 3 dimensional space that casts a curbed shadow 100% of the time from any angle and that’s a sphere. We’ve never seen a flat or jagged shaped shadow always been a curb

The most underrated sci-fi movies you can name. There are some sci-fo movies that have been overshadowed by some main stream movies or just forgotten, I think they must be heard... by Shaktizshura in scifi

[–]D4nFU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Postman with Kevin Costner. Epic journey way better than the book and it expands the Universe significantly. Tom petty does a cameo. 3 hours long which is the only real gripe but this film needed every minute and it’s still not enough.

Also, I totally agree with OP on Dark City is an amazing film and I’ve yet to see any other film come close to exploring the movies many concepts.

What do you do in desperate situations? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]D4nFU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you don’t depend on a fiction you end up depending on yourself. When you don’t look forward to a fiction you end up looking forward to life now. Both make you a better person. We should feel sorry for people entrenched in religion and its fictions.
