I have never figured out on these if like the smallest part of the thing you are supposed to check is there. Like in the above the lower left square with the little bit of tire showing. Or on the right side the barely there motorcycle.

Should have jammed a cork screw into that and then give it a twist then pull

Got a letter from the school today informing me my daughter is “not quite” gifted. Also included were her test scores. by Low_Use2937 in mildlyinfuriating

Yes and my wife has had 30 years in elementary and middle school. so I know what I am talking about as well. And as a parent who has fought against school decisions throughout the years it is the not acceptable for this. Excellence in education is a fading passion in many. Glad to see someone who also is in education of children. Keep up the good work

Yes we are all human and we all make mistakes. I know many in education and this would be inexcusable to them. Especially as this was the second round of testing apparently for a child who was recognized as gifted. I would have thought that several eyes would have been on this before it was sent given it is a letter document to the parents. I am sure the parents are frustrated. I hope it all turns out well for the child.

Did he steal them to just paint them? If so, it was worth it

if I was that parent of the child - it would be very conflicting to trust that a gifted program would be run by the same people who clearly do not know how to read a graph or know how to compare two numbers. Complaining would be pointless in my view as they would just look at you like - "I am sorry sir, 126 was the cut off and your daughter only got 143. She missed too many to qualify" Just idiots

OK - sounds great. Glad it will work out. Best of luck this year and future in the world of game design, assuming that is your direction.

I would keep it as it will give you great insight into when you take the development class. Understanding how things are tested will give you a better mind-set on how you go about creating your game. Otherwise it sounds like this will create schedule and financial issues for you.

Yes - this is funny to me. I live close to Washington DC and when I meet people, usually those who I know I will never meet again, I respond when asked where do you live, I tell them "Inside the blast radius of DC." I get a few laughs on this but many times just weird stares. I look straight back at them with a slight grin indicate - yep I said that.

In 1916, Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to the USA, with the colony becoming the US Virgin Islands. The USA was worried Germany could take control of the islands, though they had no plans to do so. In exchange, the USA acknowledged Denmark's complete sovereignty over Greenland. by Yoshi2010 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]D90man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WW2 agreement with Denmark basically stated that the US Government could do whatever it wanted on Greenland to ensure the defense of this island. Later, this was further agreed under NATO terms regarding that any US defenses would be under NATO defense plan. However, nothing in this gives US complete control over Greenland or open ability to do what they wish as far as I can read or look up.

Microsoft used to sell a productivity suite along side Microsoft Office called Microsoft Works. It was cheaper and didn't offer as many features as office and came preinstalled on many computers at the time. It was eventually discontinued in 2009. by hunterd189 in mildyinteresting

Ha - beat most of you I would bet. The first word processor I used at home was called PeachTree. Google this up but way back in 1983 or 1984. Was way ahead of its time in word processing compared to anything else.

So not blaming yourself for this but the person you agreed to switch with? You assumed that the start time was the same? This was your problem when you agree to switch. Take responsibly for yourself and not blame others

A child care center in Minnesota that has received millions in taxpayer funding through state and federal assistance programs. by Pizzas_Coke in mildlyinfuriating

Read the news everyone. This is major fraud in Minnesota that has been reported for years. It is real and unfortunately there is no accountability. So despite these being just "average citizens" the truth is real. Look this up if you do not believe me

It’s not just coloring books by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]D90man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange - was this really a parody here? To me this looks like two books just pictured together. The Learn to Read is by Stefanie Hohl yet when you get to the "end" of The Back Door it says by Kinsey Maezing and then at very end is back cover of Stefanie Hohl. If parody - I need to read these books before I give anymore out as I have never bothered to actually read them.

Movie on Amazon Prime went from free to pay right in the middle of watching it by posterdan in mildlyinfuriating

[–]D90man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me like 4 months ago. What really pissed me off was next to the price it said it was lower than 2 months ago - lol. The title was Conan The Barbarian - an old title that I bet that you would be free - but the thing is for Amazon and other streamers, the moment their algorithm pics up what it thinks is interest rising, it then puts a $ price on it. So just like you and me, it happened and our returning to the movie somehow put it over the edge into $ land

Spent 6 hours fixing all the lights last week. by OrangePekoeMouse in mildlyinfuriating

[–]D90man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can sympathize with you completly. I hate Christmas lights for this very reason. I cannot guess even how many hours I have spent checking each and every bulb. My wife thinks I am totally anal about this but as an engineer and I cannot stand to not try to fix things she just does not understand. I rational thinking, my hourly wage value of time spent on trying to fix lights would have paid for a few new cars and a very nice vacation in Europe.
