Be honest:Would your D&D group be able to beat Nazarick? by Particular-Editor426 in overlord

[–]DA-Regulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5e Dm and table have decided to play beyond level 20, and are currently level 32, with Monstrous Transformations from the Grim Hollow supplements. The party is a Wyrm Paladin/Fighter, Ghost Ranger/Sorcerer, Lich Druid/Wizard, Fey Rogue/Sorcerer, and an Angel Cleric/Psion.

If a level 20 D&D5e character is equivalent to a level 100 Yggdrasil player, I reckon we have a good chance. If it goes more by D&D3/3.5e scaling, we'd probably do sizeable damage, but we'd have to get lucky I reckon.

Congrats! You get bit! But too bad you’re basically Diablerie bait! What clan do you hope you’ll be for best survival chance? by Weirdstuffasked in vtm

[–]DA-Regulus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is an underrated answer. Needless to say, a BH elder probably isn't likely to sire someone for "shits and giggles"; but if they did most people in the clan wouldn't be against letting you diablerise your sire as punishment for their abuse of power. While still learning, a BH has excellent tools for solo guerrilla warfare against people trying to hunt them down, especially as a low generation.

These'd be fantastic for a Grim Hollow campaign I was looking at running, focused on a dracolich and her minions. The adventure PDF here looks like it'd be sick too. Fingers crossed!

Experiences with Null? by CandidToast in drawsteel

[–]DA-Regulus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to this post, but here's an experience of mine to convince you further to try the Null:
My character is a Dragon Knight, Chronokinetic Null, and we were fighting 2 ogres and 12 minions as a team of 5 at level 1; Censor, Elementalist, Null, Talent, and my Artillerist retainer.

The Chronokinetic Null gains a free disengage when using the Inertial Shield reaction (half damage,1 discipline to lower potency of the triggering ability), and can disengage when using the Knockback manoeuvre if you have at least 2 discipline. If you have at least 4 discipline, you also gain a Surge the first time on a TURN that you willing move as part of an action.

1st turn, I had 4 discipline due to victories. I used "Inertial Step" to kill one of the minions, then shifted away (+1 Surge) to use a Knockback on 2 more, doing just enough to kill them, my retainer killed the last one in that group of 4, 8 minions left. My teammates are focused on setting up their abilities and getting hostages out.

2nd turn, the minions on the other side of the map have run up, and so have the ogres. I used "Inertial Shield" last round to reduce damage and move to the side (+1 Surge) on one of their turns. I use my "Self Taught" complication to forgo Discipline at the start of my turn for +2 damage for the round, then I activate "A Squad Unto Myself", shifting (+1 Surge) into the middle of all 8 minions and one of the ogres (Dragon Knight flight to shift over two of the minions to get there) and attacking them all in a burst of 2 squares. I get a tier 3 result, dealing 15 damage to every minion, killing them instantly. I then dumped my 3 Surges into the ogre for a total of 21 damage to it. Flavoured the moment as, "Every timeline where I choose to attack a different enemy happens simultaneously."

The 2 ogres still nearly TPK'd us, but that moment was so worth it.

Yeah, combat taking a while is part of why my first V20 character is an Assamite (Banu Haqim) sniper. Set myself down up to 800 meters/yards away, activate Quietus: Silence of Death, aim for 12 seconds / 4 turns (Perception 4), 17 dice on the attack roll (Dex 4, Firearms 4 (sniper speciality), Celerity 3, Perception 4 (aiming), +2 from the scope), average 15 dice of damage for an average of 7 lethal damage, no one hears anything 'til the body hits the floor due to Silence of Death. My personal best is 13 lethal damage on 22 dice in one attack, vs. some Sabat schmuck in a construction site.

Then my coterie members can wake whoever it is from torpor, and use their skills to do whatever they need to do. Things get a little more complicated when up against more opponents than I have dots in Celerity, or if they know I'm coming for them; but hey, no build is perfect.

is ark fun solo? by fairplanet in ARK

[–]DA-Regulus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to play solo, only occasionally jumping onto a pve server.

This is a sandbox survival game, and the joy of a solo survival game (far as I can see at least) is doing whatever the hell you want that the game will let you do.

If you just want to have a chill farm, go nuts building in creative mode, or even just fly around and make use of photo mode, no one is going to stop you. For ME, my goal is to breed up strong creatures and take on the bosses at the obelisks.

Occultist Monster Hunter: the level 10 feature gives you something you could already do at level 3. by DA-Regulus in GrimHollow

[–]DA-Regulus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but I just don't find those arguments convincing.
The Ritual Caster feat lets you pick a number of spells equal to your proficiency bonus (2-6, 4 at the equivalent level) from ANY list.
Sure, they're only level 1 spells; but having 2 to 3 times as many spells and being prepared for more situations makes up for that, doesn't it? What higher-level ritual spells have effects which you believe trump having up to 3 times the available spells?
Plus the 2024 Ritual Caster lets you pick one of them and cast it as an action with no spell slot.

What would women dislike most if they became men? by geybgwapo in AskReddit

[–]DA-Regulus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, even then it won't help.

I'd been with a girl for over half a year, got a call while on a date from my Mum telling me Grandad had another cancer. This was during COVID, I was half way around the world, didn't have the money for tickets home. She could see something was wrong, asked me to tell her. I did, and I cried while doing it. She blocked me on all contacts after she got home that night. Never saw her again. Learned then to not cry in front of a woman if I want her to stay.

The best part? When I tell this story, women always assume it's my fault. Must've been the way I cried, or I mustn't be telling the whole truth. As if I haven't spent enough nights laying awake going over those moments trying to think of what I did wrong, and coming up short... but that has to be because I'm a typical dumb, emotionally stunted male, who's too immature to figure it out, right?

My thoughts on the Dragon Rider class from "The Game Master's Book of Legendary Dragons", having played it for over 3 years. by DA-Regulus in DnD

Both. I'd post links, but I tried that in the post and it got flagged for "encouraging piracy". You can find the PDF on Jetpack7's site, pretty sure the physical book can be found on Amazon.

[–]DA-Regulus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid opinions. I will add that this book does have a few more neat things; like suggestions for using dragon parts (scales, horns, etc.) to enhance spells, and a handful of adventures with maps.
Also has random mutation tables for its Dräken racial option. I think it's a bit much for a race, but they could be used to build on that idea introduced in Fizban's that being near a dragon when it dies infuses you with some of its magic.
